All, I'm on the hunt for a Schumacher CAT XL/XLS and would (obviously) prefer to pick up a NIB one. Anyone with any suggestions where best to look for these (apart from Ebay)? Are nib one ultra rare?

Bit of trivia. I just remembered (while checkin out the bosscat auctions) that Matt Francis ran a Bosscat for a while. I should ask him where it ended up :P -Jeff
Picked up this Procat over the weekend. In pretty good shape. Has newer electrics in it. Came with a few spare parts and some vintage motors and charger.
The motors are a Speed Gems 2, Race Prep Hack Attack (stock motor?) a green, unlabled motor...

Good time to take her all apart and clean everything up.
Ive been hard at work again sorting my CAT XLS vintage racer ready the big vintage meeting of the year at Ryde/Sydney in a few weeks. Ready to kick some dirt Im running a 12 turn 'V'spec motor, 4200 lipo saddles and a Q.C.3 and FET servo. Cant wait...

Hello D.M.
I had been a member of the Chargers club a little while back and I even had a few meets out there early on this year but I haven't been racing there alot this year. I want to go back out there but with work being slow i have other things...
Looky what the postman brought me yesterday, an almost never run CAT XL with the ever illusive front bumper! 8) The UK guy I bought it from was the first owner and as pictures were quite small, I asked him if the car was in good shape, he told me it...
Well....in my qwest to collect some of my favorite cars from the '80's, I came across this at a local swapmeet. Dig the Marui Big Bear tires... The ol' Cat needs a little love, that's for sure. But with Ebay and the help of this board, I hope...

Can I see some pictures of how those big bear wheels were fitted to the shumacher axles please?
(Just for inspiration : I own neither the car nor wheels)
I've already taken 'em off and gave 'em away..... :D
But let's just say the mounting was...
Just got these & am a bit confused by them. Not sure who made them until I took them apart. They are definitely Schumacher bodies, shafts & seals, but did Schumacher ever make shock tops without the hexagon? These are perfectly round so I'm guessing...

MIP made a very similar shock body only black teflon coated.
Being a crazy mad Schumacher fan its hard to go past the Bosscat. For me this was Schumachers ultimate 4WD buggy from the 'crashback' front end line of buggies. Its clearly an evolutionary thing and by the time the Bosscat design was down pat they...

Thanks for the info Jeff. I think the Bosscat is the more reliable car of all the early CATs and a definate powerhouse. This is the second 'works' i currently have and I used to run a 5.5t B/L in my other car. The belts have held up fine too.
Not...
If anyone has parts for cougar 2000 please let me know - i might fancy to build one based on that tub & parts. I also got different comcom c2k chassis' and all woven cf parts one could think of.

Seen this is primarily a vintage forum... I think it is fairly normal to find lots of people here who like something 'different'.
I also like to own my own creations: not because they perform better than the others ('cause usually they don't  )...
Had the shock towers at home so i could turn it around to standings instead .
yes i know its only fiberglass but it was in the box so i just tried do it.
Not modded the front yet missing some parts.

Why don't you put this in the original thread you started on this build?
hi i have just bought what i think is a club10 and im looking for a body shell that will fit i cant find much about this model. it is in need of a good clean but the main thing for now is to get a shell/wing that looks and fits right.
can anyone...

I have recently had a old schumacher cougar 2 works chassis re-ground and all the paint stripped off. if you look at the pictures Ive attached the person who did this has done a good job of striping and re-grinding it but a rubbish job on...
I've just been looking at rebuilding an old Procat and seem to have most things except the rear wing mount. A few questions:
1.Looking at the new CAT SX, the part looks adaptable but wondered if anyone else had tried?
2.does anyone know where I may...

I'll have a look this weekend as I havent opened the the rear g/box yet. The front looks MMS (white Nylon with the recess) so i'm hoping the rear has been changed as well.
It's been originally built by a bafoon though! Kyosho screws, bolts right...

I found 4 sets of these while cleaning out my hobby room. Obviously Schumacher but I've got no idea how old. I bought a YZ10 off a local auction site and these must of come with it. Are they worth keeping?

Seriously though, what is the diameter of the tires? For the non-purist sometimes a tire is a tire.
ON MY RECENT TRIP TO MELBOURNE FOR THE VINTAGE 4 HOUR BUGGY ENDURO I WANTED TO TAKE A COUPLE OF EXTRA CARS DOWN WITH ME AND GIVE THEM A RUN SO I WASNT TO WEAR OUT THE CAR THAT WAS MEANT TO DO THE ENDURO. I THOUGHT I'D PAINT UP ANOTHER NEW BODY AND...
Just thought i'd share some of the helpful trans mods I use to get my Cougar2 transmissions running sweet.
1. I like to redrill the side plates to accomodate some slightly larger diameter screws which i found at 'Jaycar'. I find the original ones...

jason,
I tried the cone washer trick on the diff screw and it works great as well as cutting the back side of the trans housing so the belt does not rub. you said you have other helpful mods........I think we have waited long enough (almost 2 mon)...
Has anyone tried dyeing Schumacher 3 spoke wheels? If so any advice on how well it works and what brand dye to use. I want to dye a set of NIB wheels black for the carbon tub project car.
Cheers,
Ian

It works :-)
The Yokomo wheels dyed better than the Schumacher wheels, but they look like a different kind of plastic. Trying some glass fibre bits at the moment to see what happens.
Just curious since I'm new here, but where are you guys getting your schumacher cars and parts? I've been looking for a cougar 2000 for quite a while on ebay but can never find one. I did check out Ebay's UK site and they had some there, but I'm a...

Dave here's the 'XPC' Cougar2000 car Ive been telling you about.
Been busy this weekend so thought I would post up pictures of my new built Bosscat works. All parts are new, shell was masked by me but sprayed by airheadgraphics.

I believe that the standard Bosscat chassis (all versions except the Sport) had 8 cell slots. You could chose whether you ran the cells forwards or backwards, however you had to file lugs off to run the forwards set :x There was also a optional USA...
below are my cars, showing the brand's off road evolution, from the cat to the bosscat. some of them still need work to be shelf queens. sorry for the pictures, the light was pretty poor.
Bormac may recognize his body on the procat ...

Indeed I did build that Bosscat Works and Jeroen is right-it may well be one of the best Bosscat's around at the moment. .
Quick question: Were those battery straps & alloy posts available when the Bosscat was on sale, or are they the CAT 3000...

They look ok to, but would be worried as the flanged bit looks to big also the size should be 8mm x 12mm x 4mm these are 3.5, so they might not fit. But nice to know options are out there :D
My Vintage Trans-Am Mi2EC. I bought it off of a team Schumi driver in the Spring and took these pics after a rebuild. It will be making its maiden voyage (for me) next weekend.
Honestly, I am not trying to generate any interest by this post...... I am just going back and forth in my mind with wanting to sell this or just keep it. I am a bit of a noob on anything Schumacher, other than Cat XL/XLS. I like really rare parts...

I thought this was unique and as far as I know, it is one off-custom jobby-do, as I don't think BBT made conversions for Schumachers. A Top Cat Sprint Car....... has a modified Composite Craft Chassis, narrowed to fit the Sprint body. This will...

Nice work, Mark! If you doing house renovations, make sure you make a nice little r/c workspace for yourself.
If there's just one thing both CATS and I know - it's vintage schumachers buggies. I own 3 Cougar2 WORKS buggies and they are by far the cream of the crop when it comes to the alloy pan cars.
