Hi guys.
I want to rebuild some of my Option House gold dampers with new shock shafts. I feel the original shafts are a little short and would be happy to find something a little longer should they be out there. Even if this means adding spacers on...

I'm currently rebuilding a set of Gold shocks for a forum member trade. Tonight I can update this topic with the exact length of the shafts F & R, and maybe some additional info on aftermarket parts. Stay tuned.
I've never posted pics of my Turbo Optima on this forum, so I thought I would. (these pics are from before I rebuilt/cleaned it up)
I picked this up locally for a very good price in the beginning of this years summer. I've only run it once, but it...

Great turbo! One day I'll have one too. :D There are only 5-6 buggys, that I really want to own. The Turbo Optima is one of them definitely. I have a nearly-new Turbo Optima Mid Special , which I do not like nearly as much as the old Turbo. I...
Been looking for ages for a Kyosho Beetle to add to the VW collection, finally found a mint example.
Looks to have hardly been used. Not a spec of dirt anywhere, not so much as a scratch on the body, terrible paintjob but I already have...
so I got this chassis set from a guy who claimed he was a sponsored JG driver and had this made up for him but he never used it...I tossed in some pro xl a arms to widen it up . its almost like a squre in its dimensions. cant say Ive ever built a...
I was looking over that image of all the Le Mans motors, in particular the rated voltage for each one, and was wondering what physically enables a motor like the 360 Gold for instance to use up to 8.4V but not the 480 Gold? Construction-wise, both...

You are right. I really think that info is not right.
Really any motor should handel 8.4v more so the Alloy end bells ones.
Too me the strongest motor i think is the 240SB the spa motors were no better as i raced them all.
I have a full set of platinum shocks. I'm going to make a runner with them, but I'd like to rebuild them. Does anyone have any hints or tricks on rebuild kits?

Vtg Kyoshoshop has everything for your rebuilds. O-rings etc.
hi all, I haven't posted for a while now, I've been crook, still not out of the woods, more test to be done, hopefully all goes well, but I thought I'll post some pictures of some of my Kyosho's, hope you all enjoy

i fit a lazer 2000 body on an ultima in the past. cant see why you shouldnt be able to mount a lwb mid body on an ultima.
Hey guys I just got the Optima I have been looking for. I got it for a decent price. Little more than I wanted to spend but was not totally unreasonable, Much less than what they have be going for on eBay lately. This is the first one I have owned...

Jeff, I have already been running some ideas through my head on this one. I also had the same idea you just mentioned. My initial plan is to mill a new aluminum brace for the bottom to cover the front diff. After that is done, I am going to make a...
hi Guys, just about finished my latest Kyosho buggy project, I'm getting this ready for a vintage Enduro run in November, need to give it a few test runs before I can give it the ok, the Enduro race goes for 4 hours (2 cars / drivers per team) so...

Could be good to use on a works 91 front. Thanks for the dimension!
Here I am again with another technical question. My problem is, I'm always trying to do things differently, and that means custom-fit applications always require research, and when that fails, help.
Anyway, I'm looking at using a set of...

Thanks for your reply. I'd buy them if only I could get an answer on how wide a specific set of narrow wheels are. The eBay seller hasn't answered a single question over the past 48 hours, and it's over 24 hours for a tech support reply from the...
I'm currently working on some vintage kyosho projects. The Optima was my second car I ever had and I'm recently back into RC and want to recapture some of that magic LOL.
Does anyone have any good ideas where to get gold shocks.
On a side note,...

I have a set of the rear Duratrax Gold Shocks if you are still looking for gold shocks. PM if interested.
(I also have the full set of Kyosho Golds, but they are on my Turbo Ultima Pro XL, which would also be available if interested).
Hi all. I've been reading these forums for a while (mostly vintage kyosho & yokomo sections), but just signed up as a member today.
A few of us on another forum have been trying to id this kyosho gearbox. I thought the answer might be found here....

It's the stock Ultima gearbox to use midmounted motor.
I've been seeing all these Optima Mids with those lexan bathtub under-body trays, and was thinking it would be quite easy to fabricate one using the Optima (non-Mid) skidplate as a mold. My idea would be to cut a long, rectangular piece of lexan...

Vacuum forming is going to be the only way to get nicely formed 90 deg edges in a complicated shape to fit a chassis into. Don't bother using a heat gun with anything other than a straight line bend.
With that said, you could always trace out the...
I'm new to this forum. I see a lot of Lazer and Optima threads (and rightfully so) but anyone out there a fan of the Kyosho Vintage monster trucks?

Yes, I saw that on the Bay. Very nice by Sassy Chassis. The USA-1 was the only other competitor to the Clod. No one was really making any solid axles back then.
well got my com com lazer out tonight and after being heavy into TCs for about six months it was a great change so i decided to put together the last two zxr s i bought of the bay i finished my nib sport so it will be a dual resto ,going to need...

I installed my mystery black can motor (brushed) in my Turbo Optima and man, that thing is fast! I was using a 25-year-old 6-cell matched Sanyo pack and I was surprised at how fast the car accelerated. I don't really know any specifics about the...

Im looking to fit a slipper assembly to my Mid Custom Special vintage racer.
Im not looking for an ultra modern solution with B4 spurs or anything but if anyone might have a suggestion to help me fit 'ROBINSON' type spus that would be great....

If you don't need a slipper: trinity made a small busshing that fits the center of a standard spur and has an inner diater of 4mm.

Well i just finished my Turbo Optima re build with Belt Drive.

Okay, I've seen some aftermarket A-arms for the Optima that were extended length, for use in a monster truck application...but does anyone know if any company made shortened A-arms & shafts, for on-road use for example?
Is there a tool to use to help take off the tops of the Kyosho gold shocks (to avoid scratching them up every time with a pliers)? Kyosho had the included tool for the smaller red shocks with their unique design. I saw a shock tool for modern...

Are you sure its the slipper slipping? What type of diff lube do you use?. Carbide, steel, or ceramic diff balls. You might check that the parts clearance on the slipper is correct. Sounds like the slipper pad may not be thick enough. E.G. the...
Will a Turbo Ultima body that has been cut and finished fit on a Kyosho Ultima Pro XL? I know the XL chassis is longer, so it seems like it would not. Thanks for the help Ultima experts!
I've been sourcing upgraded parts for practically every weak link in my upcoming Optima build, from turnbuckles to steering knuckles, but I've had absolutely no success with dogbones.

I have seen 1000's of aftermarket parts for the Optima series of cars, and VERY rarely did anyone ever produce an aftermarket dog bone. There is no market for them, as when they were replaced (be it because of wear or abuse), everyone went with a...
Does any one know the difference between the 2 receivers Pulsar and Kyosho. I am getting some radio gear together for some Kyosho Wildcats and I am coming across both Kyosho and Pulsar receivers with the Pulsar Pro 2000 transmitter.
Last post
Tower Hobbies catalog sold the Pulsar and heavily promoted it (along with everything Kyosho). Thus, you find a lot of Pulsars with Optimas, Ultimas, etc. I believe Pulsar/Kyosho will work together. It's like the current Tower/Tactic radios.
I was just given this...I was told it was a Turbo Optima Mid Custom Special, but I own a Turbo Optima Mid Special and this car has different A arms, steering knuckles and other tasty, carbon fibre parts,so I'm thinking it's a first edition Lazer.
