I bought a lot of motors that included a few stock motors to use in stock class racing, and I got a Kyosho LeMans 480S motor in the deal. The endbell looks new, there hasn't been any motor wires soldered, besides the nicks on the front of the can,...

If you dont want to put it in a shealfer.
Sell it. Should be enough to buy a new brushed motor.
Yes its a Mild mod motor but in its day was rather quick.
Its a 24t single with.80mm ga wire. Max revs 21 to 22ooo.
I just received it yesterday and to my surprise it is in very good condition tires look like they maybe have one run on them no scratches on chassis just some dirt should make for a good shelfer. I will take some pics once I start to brake it down...

Good buy! I saw that on ebay but passed it up because I already have too many Slingshots.
If you need any spare parts, just let me know because I have three rollers and enough NIP parts to make a fourth.
Could someone advise me which alternative wheels would fit the Kyosho Progress / Gallop ?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the detailed answer, I have a progress which is in good condition but the wheels are looking a little tired and the tyres arent great so wanted to spruce it up a bit. Im happy to put something different on besides standard, i...

Could you pretty please take a nostalgia sized close-up picture of the Optima silver transparency you have wisely framed. It brings back both memories and regrets of having assembled a car on one, including grease stains and then throwing it away....
Just wanted to get a census on if I should replicate my late Ultima that I sold to one of our own RC10talk members. I truly liked the look but at the time didn't really appreciate it. ( Now I do )
What do you think?
Those r Bru-Line rims by the...

I dig the look.
Totally unique!
They look like oversized VW (Baja) rims. Perfect for those (1/10th) scale 20 tires.
Heres a little tidbit of the projects I am working on. Those vintage pros will be able to identify most of the parts here. This set is nearly ready for the anodizing shop. Most are Kyosho, all are not. -Jeff
well i needed a few more parts to build another ultima. so i just disassembled my original ultima with jg radio plate and parma shock towers figuring i just wanna see how this new TBG chassis set goes together.so heres some pics of it......

i really wish when i sold my hot trick ultima that i swapped out the CF track master tranny off it now . ah well .
I have always liked the 1:1 version of this race car and was happy to get this one in newly built condition. 4wd belt drive chassis. A very interesting piece. More like a 1/9th scale size than 1/10th.

Anyway, this is not mine and going by the prize it won't be any time soon, but I think I 've got a chance for a little less shiny one coming up.

The Rowdy Baja is special to me as my father gave me one as a surprise gift in the 90's. :)
I'm constantly surprised about how many people don't know about them. Even more so when its the people who are fans of old Kyosho buggies. They are from...
A couple of different companies made clones of the Rowdy Baja like shown above. The biggest difference is that the Rowdy Baja was all metal and the others had plastic (or whatever that material is) sides.
Picked up an ultima from the bay. Short wheelbase, 20 degree kick up. Question is, who made it? Composite Craft? It has 3 holes on each side that I am not familiar with. Trailing arms maybe?
We had a short meeting yesterday, only RC10s and my Ultima (no Tamiyas this time..). I was really curious to see how the new Pro Line tires would work (in previous meeting the vintage tires caused serious oversteer on the hard packed track) and boy...

have a look at this thread: .
I've made some changes to the car since, but there are some good pics of chassis.
I hate when I do that. I was putting my Turbo Ultima tranny back together after doing some work on it. When I went to reassemble the diff, the tray I had all of the small stuff in tipped and sent everything flying. I ended up losing all but...

I thought of another question. My internal gears are in great shape but the external gears are a little chewed up. What are my options for these? I've attempted to clean them up slightly with my dremel but haven't gone too far because i'm not sure...
If you're building/customizing an old Ultima, this may be the way to go for a chassis replacement:
It's a little expensive though...

Can someone comment on the thickness of the carbon? I bought some 959 parts from him and they were a bit thin. I would be afraid that if you did run it, it would snap in two pieces.
well i had a gold celebration chassis car built to run but dismantled it to put the TBG chassis set on her. it all went together good except for the rear shock mount and long screw n bolt he provides for the motor plates...

This is one of my favorite Vintage rides. The Ultima..
The design just draws you in to take a closer look.
This particular one has the RC10 rear hub upgrade. The shocks ( Made by trinity?? ) The Aluminum rims to match. New cut body and cage....

Look at those tyres  ,very nice. Are you going to do a box art paint job?
Yes, this one will be painted box art. I will also put a nib slipperclutch and motor cover, and a lemans 480 gold motor too :D
I have an old Kyosho Progress but the shells a bit rough, the progress and repro progress shells seem really hard to come by, is there a similar alternative that will fit with a bit of extra cutting?
Thanks
The Turbo Ultima is my first rc car...bought it back in '89 and never got to race it. in '92 I was able to get the Triumph and never got to race it too. Then for a very long time, I stopped playing. Got back in the game only 4 years ago. My kits have...

Hey Vin,
check around some of the other ultima builds, you'll find good info for example the correct lentgh CVD is 62mm: like on an ultima rb5.
Sticking with the dogbone would allow using an hpi axle which is longer and gives you the extra offset....
Finished up my psuedo Pro-X resto over the weekend. I have wheel covers and a new set of rear arms (they are a bit yellowed) coming. Body is original, wing is as close to original as I could find.... believe it or not it's from Parma and looks...

Thanks vintage racer. You can always use spares. I wouldn't mind a new set for the Icarus.
Can anyone tell me if the Kyosho Icarus (2wd caged vehicle) was a decent running beginners buggy? I'm thinking about looking for one for next year's off road vintage nats beginner's class and wanted to know the good/bad aspects of the buggy.

Yeah, Ed, that's more or less the plan that is forming for this one. I do have the wheels that were on it but they just don't do it for me. Prince Steve hooked me up with the rears, (thanks!) and I'll either find some used fronts or come up with...

still have to fit both together on the car, but just from mid-air trials I think they were made to work with the undertray of the original lazer body: not Z ZX ZXR , but I'm no pro ondistinguishing these
Does anyone know where I might be able to find a 48 pitch spur gear for an old Optima. I don't know much about this car, but I heard that it needs a double spur gear and that it needs to be 48 pitch. Any help would be great.
Thanks

I agree: parts are always more expensive sold separately than as part of a kit.

Yes, that's the one. I ordered 3 of these from Tower Hobbies back in 1998 along with many other OT Optima parts still floating around in their inventory. Long gone now.
You guys out there still running mids, what are you doing to mount a normal 48 pitch spur gear to the trans? I can't find any pinions to fit the stocker.

trinity made a red anodized bushing for this. And Parma put 3 fluo green adapters with their bright red spurs back in the days. One adapter for the mid, one for the JR-x2 and one...never knew.
