Got back into the RC thing not too long ago and am hooked. I was never one for staying stock with anything and I love the Stadium trucks. Problem is theres just not many available to buy right now outside of crazy Ebay pricing from Japan. I did...
I'm building a set of the yellow CVA shocks for the first time and I've stumbled upon something I have never seen before.
Although they look similar, the front and rear shocks share almost no parts . Not only are the fronts shorter, they are also...

Hmm, well I bet it didn't make the bean counters happy. If they had their way, front and rear wheels and tires would also be the same.
Speaking of tires, I was very pleased to discover that Tamiya has gone old school on this kit; tires are...
I got some indication that my builds are highly detailed, and mentioned to someone I could eventually post about some other cars I build, and I'll start with the Super Hotshot. I build this in April-May this year.
I will do one...

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Especially the paint work - that just looks awesome. Well done sir!!
I've never actually held or even seen a Hotshot before so it was interesting to watch you put this one together.
With so many different RC models...
Ok folks, I know nothing about these, but have just been given this as part of a large score. It was thrown in for free so I am looking for some info on it please. Can anybody tell me what I have here, what I need to look out for etc... I have never...

Is the motor a 1 off or is someone producing that?
It was a lucky eBay find. From what I gather the guy who pit it together made a few of them and sold them off quite a number of years ago, and this was the last one he had held on to.... and then...
I've been piecing this together the last couple of months. Just picking up parts from the splitters on eBay. Didn't want to drop all the cash in one fell swoop.... Anyway, I always wanted one of these once I became aware of them because they predate...

I'm fairly new to this forum and I have two original FAVs (one for myself) and two 2011 RTR kits for my kids. I did aluminum upgrades on every part I could and installed Tamiya's oil damper kit. I replaced the motor and ESC with a Tamiya brushless...
I have a set of Blackfoot style wheels that are chrome plated and was wondering with which model these where included.
I'm aware of the Monster Beetle which included gold plated Blackfoot wheels and the Mud Blaster, but what other Tamiya models used...

That’s it !! CCP ! Lowgear thank you….
I’m still dizzy from firing through all the RCCA scans lookin for the tiny ad I remember seeing but still haven’t come across. I know I must have missed it…. Ok I’m gunna go lay down for a bit
This is my (almost complete) refurbished Tamiya King Cab. I didn't take pictures during the process so only end shots.
I started with 3 King Cab/Monster Racer chassis. The intent was to combine all 3 into the best King Cab I could make because I...

Do you guys buy REissues just for parts? Seems these little bits are hard to come by and sometimes they add up to the point Im considering buying a complete kit just to have it all available.

never really was a tamiya guy
they all seemed to cheap made for my tastes (i like to bash and race) and the nice race quality ones were just to damn expensive
but i have added one to my army of rc stuff

Super old thread, but this is step one in a Blackfoot build (which would be step one in ANY tamiya build):

Yup lesson learned last week. Built my first RC in quite awhile (Pumpkin Lowride) and what a disaster that was...
Hi everyone, with a little free time after new years day and looking for a fresh start to 2021, I went through some of my r/c things and came across some tamiya kits I had purchased about 5 or so years ago. I raced and bashed my dads blackfoot to...

Powerplant and shocks for the df01 tub. I decided to go brushed again and put in a decent reedy mr. A 14x3 with an aluminum motor mount and robinson metric pinion. The shocks I have for this project are a hybrid of manta ray and supershot with 501x...
The Brat is Back! earlier this year I completely trashed my box art Brat racing at the Sydney Vintage Meet.
Its now received a new body set, painted in Tamiya Metallic Black, with 3 coats of Gloss & a set of original Brat decals.

Just a pretty much stock King Blackfoot with a Monster Beetle body painted by a good buddy of mine in a Sand Scorcher theme. It has a Tamiya Sport tuned motor, DTX-4 ESC, and TXT-1 shocks and chrome King Blackfoot Rims with Pro-line Moabs. My buddy...

Here's my new rendition of the Monster Bettle after sitting for the past year without the body.
Bought a Wild Willie driver, just because they had it in the hobby shelf, didn't know what he was going to be driving, and did the same with the tires...
I'm not a big vintage guy, but I've always liked the Monster beetle. Kind'a thinking about picking one up to add to the collection. Just wondered what they are worth. As in an original, and then they did re-release it I think ?

Yeah as recommended get the ball diff if you can. You can then run all sorts of motors through it.
the main issue to watch out for is a slipping/grinding sound when you accelerate hard or floor the throttle. The gear diff starts to separate under...
Hello I am new to the site but not to new to RC. I am having issues with my Lunchbox. What it's doing after I have charged the batteries is for a little while it operates fine, but after say about 5 minutes the acceleration starts getting jerky....

Well got back from my lhs and found out it was the battery, they tested it and it was no good so bought new one and some new flanged nuts for my lunchbox, super clod buster and wild willy 2 (still have to paint it) and all is good.
Back in the days I had one Hot Trick car. My Tamiya Fox got a full Hot Trick conversion, resulting in a dramatic change of appearance, a debatable upgrade in driving characteristics - and confusion of threads in my screw box. Today I have several...

Preliminary assembly to find the right shock set up. The relevant tracks require a ride height at +/- 20 mm. Ending up using 0.71 up front and 1.32 at the rear end.
Anyone know the answer to the question of whether you can fit original Clod Buster wheels/tyres to the original Blackfoot and, if so, please could they let me know how it is done/which parts are necessary?
Thanks a lot.

Bitd I took a pair of tamiya mount foam on road tires and stuck my clod tires right over them. They friction fit just great and ran for almost a whole 1200 mah pack before the splines on the drive shafts became smooth.
Picked up a nos HPI VW bus a few weeks back, and decided to use a M-05 chassis. To get the fat tires to fit I had to narrow the front & rear track. Also went with rear cantilever shocks. Wheels are HPI cup racer 4 spoke. Front tires are HPI cup...
So I’ve had this rere Super Astute for a while now.
Bought it from a friend who bought it from a friend who bought it from a friend... I think I’m number five on it and it’s never been run.
Never really known what to do with it. Must be demons in it...

With a few upgrades to stronger plastics I see Super Astute as good as any race buggy of time. Add in a carbon chassis and IFMAR champ. I might go so far as to say no need for the Dyna Storm evolution. If nothing else, it sure is sexy to look at....
Probably not a car many on here will have even heard of, but in 1986 a chap by the name of Bill Jones campaigned a much modified Hotshot, which was dubbed the 'Supercharge Hotshot' and was named after his shop down near Romsey, Supercharge Models....

I was looking for a 5th hauler for my snowcat tilt trailer and decided to build one. I went with the Tamiya Toyota Land Cruiser GF-01 chassis, and a Axial Unimog body, which looked more proportionate than the Toyota body. The 5th wheel mount and...

Let me guess, take it slow and start as friends... seriously though. I have one that I got in a trade, but I'm not sure if it's vintage or re-release. I don't care, just curious. Or, for that matter, did they ever stop making them so that...

Dadio has the skills to pay the bills....who agrees that it would be epic if he made a 4wd Lunchbox? I dont mean take a 4wd chassis and throw a Lunchbox body on it. I am talk'n 3d print parts to make a stock Lunchy chassis 4wd. I think scr8p needs...

Looking forward to following your build, always like checking out what mods are added to squeeze more out of the Tamiya cars (an old hotshot was one of my firsts and it barely resembled the original car when I was done with it). :)
Hello - Having a hard time finding parts, specifically for a Tamiya Dirt Thrasher - parts tree E, E11, the battery holder. Does anyone know a good place to look other than ebay or just a blanket search on the web?
Thanks!

A couple years back when I was looking for a tree, I was able to put my name on a waiting list at Tamiya USA and within a month they had restocked. Might be worth checking into, so long as they don’t show up as discontinued.
A couple more videos from Jasonfest 1 2021. Sorry for the short crappy videos, we needed them to be textable so we could impress chicks. Not to mention we didn't go anywhere with enough space for any of them to really stretch their legs......
