I've had my eye on these for a while. Finally got one! Awesome car to finally get to see in person. Tamiya nailed it with this one.

Thanks shodog. It's new built/never ran from fleabay. Tires have a little dryrot so I'll likely replace them. No plans to run it though, it would be too hard to replace again.
I have a Tamiya King Cab that I use as a runner every now and then, but on the last outing it stripped the splines on the wheel hex and axle. For a fix I drilled and tapped a 3mm hole thru the hex and axle, this held up for awhile until eventually...

I wonder if Bandit arms would be the correct length.
New build. Maybe a candidate for 2wd at the 2011 Vonats??
Maybe not the most popular 2wd buggy out there, but it reeks of quality. Typical Tamiya.
I got it already painted. I would have opted for the 2 tone if I had my choice...

anybody bother putting ballbearings in the suspension arms in these? :P
I haven't looked into it on this car. I have an Astute I plan on building with all the Tamiya hop-ups on it. Thought it would be cool to replace the bushings with bearings...
Hey guys, I thought I'd post some pics of the TA02 F-150 I've been restoring, before it leaves for it's new home, and I finally get my JRX2 Junior. I used most of the original parts- gear cases, servo, prop shaft, body posts as well as some NIP...
My buddy has the re-released Brat.
What options, that you know of, would work for larger wheels that will work with the Brat.
(We're only concerned with axle/hub/wheel mods, if the body needs to be cut to make room, that's ok.)
He'd like the Monster...

Thank you highwayracer!
That's the exact type of advice we're after.
I'll pass it along.
Just got back from holidays, took my Sand Scorcher & Wild One along. My son & I had a ball.
All the pics were taken ny my 9 year old son. (I'll get in trouble if I don't say that)
Well i made a new years promise that i would start(and hope to complete) some projects that have stacked up over the years. Loss of my job late last year has been frustrating. I have been unloading alot of parts that i would of never wanted to part...

Good idea. Don't know how the Trinity rear sway bar fits but I have the Parma one fitted to my Fox using the original chassis. I think you may have to drill a couple of mounting holes into the Sassy chassis at the top/rear (i.e. near where the shock...
Hi Guy's,this is project bluehopper.i know its only a grasshopper but the memory are there.its not much for now but ist getting there.

up to another project now.
I've got a bunch of MadCap/Astute transmission parts in a box as well as many other Tamiya buggy components that I could use to make myslef a sratch built buggy.
The only thing is that I dont have all the parts for the...
Im going to be honest, im not realy that good with roll outs/gear ratio's for these kinds of cars. I want to run my Super Shot with modern 2.2' rims and rubber and want to get the most out of this runner. My question here simply is- what motor...

Thanks for the comments guys. After watching Dylan's Hot Shot run around the track in Melbourne last year at the off road enduro I was inspired to get my own 'SHOT' up and going. While this car is hardly going to take on Dog Fighters, Lazer's and...
Finally finished my Sand Rover. I got this as an ex toy shop display so it's never been used. Thats about to change.
Should be lots of fun on the beach, just need to find time to put some electrics in it. Hopefully next weekend.

Really nice!
Why can't there be a bikini clad hottie in the seat though? That car deserves it.
Speaking of topless pix.
I bought this car about 8 or 9 yrs ago and it's about 90% complete. The guy who sold it to me rebuilt it as a shelf queen. All of the parts are IMMACULATE, including the inside of the gearbox. The gears and shocks have never been oiled/ greased....

Cool! Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure and use cement. I assume I can paint over it after it's fully dried and sanded?
so i been slowly working on my hotshot re-re.... finally got to the servo/electronics setup...
is there anyway to increase steering a bit on these cars? basically the steering is a direct servo turn (like frog and others). no bellcranks or anything...

Just wanted to update the ball raced steering option I have gone with. Obviously I have fabricated a base plate from 1.6mm fibreglass which is held in place through the original servo mounting holes. It took some working out to get this right. Ive...
Ive recently purchased a pair of Tamiya old school uni's from dave but was wondering if there are any modern CVD's that are around for the above mentioned cars?

I'm no expert on the HotShot by any means but I do know that RC Lohas are producing some cvds for the front. It might be worth checking with them to see whether they fit the standard HotShot as well as their red HotShot. See here:
Got my trade to day and i'm pretty happy with it.Traded my white rc10 runner for a Zilla chassis and axles.Everything pictured.Lower chassis brace needs a little straightening but overall pretty nice. The diffs are very clean and smooth turnin.
Just won this on ebay. I'm very partial to the Blackfoot since it was the first real RC I had. This one needs some work but parts seem to be still pretty common for these. I bought this to help ease the pain over my Super Champ mishap. Haven't...

Hey gang.
I know the Tamiya lovers will dig this!
My buddy recently got the re-release of the Brat and Hornet.
We decided to whip up a fun little video. :)
Please let it load! The original upload was huge... it'll be worth it, I promise....

You may think Frog, but it is definitely a Hornet... black plasti-dip on the body instead of green
You should have seen it before I used the anti-shake tool... un-watchable.
Oh, and the end is not a fancy video effect... I chucked the...
Finally got myself a set. When I got them mounted,I had to laugh. These things are huge.Got a body from a friend that fits the overall size alot better.Gonna be more fun than a barrel a buttered monkeys!!
Thanks for lookin, Dave

I think so too.Bit to do before I can run it but it will be pretty quick with the 55T we run.Might have to get myself a couple 75T.
The other day I was bored so I pull out my Hornet parts box and built this.I started with a chassis with a broken front tower and fabed this alloy one to accept longer shocks,I left it rough till I see how it works,it gives the shocks a negative...
Seems everything is being reproduced these days. I like it a lot, but a bit pricey.

rb5 ? lovely: smart not to stick with vintage models only. Maybe you can make the parts compatible with the much cheaper almost clones of Ansman, Kawada and (oops forgot the name again).
Another product idea: 2.2 front wheels that match your rears...
Here a couple of pics of my pride any joy, only run in doors once(4 mins) and then i had ge a new chassis, ouch.
Its just a little bling, altho i go for purple i love this blue.
Hey Gary here you go. this is a Blackfoot I got from Red Scampi. all I have done so far is paint the body put on some decals Ive had forever.
Future plans include chrome wheels, Cvd's, working lights and better rollbar, with working light.
G'day Guys
Finally got myself a Tamiya monster beetle. gave it a paint job, new tyres, chrome shocks & working headlights.

Just want to see what you guys think of me trading my 2009 buggy champ used(about 20 packs)for a new built never ran tamiya nissan king cab. Does it seem like a even trade?
what year did these things come out? also , if the trans is stripped out in side, is there another tamiya vehicle that i could swap internals? also does anyone have any pics of they woulda looked like box stock? (wheels ,tires, paint scheme ect..)

You can use all the internals from the new re-release on the old car. Slightly different moldings - but work.
Original RR was released in November of 1979. There were 4 versions of the chassis. Most common term for these buggies is SRB (Special...

I was reading the hotshot manual and was trying to figure out the type of ball bearing it needs. But there was no measurement in the manual.
Can someone tell me the type (size) and number of ball bearing in a hotshot?
Thnak you.

Yes, that's 4 more. That's why I buy 100 of them at a time... for $40. You can replace them as needed without going broke. Tamiya used 5x11 and 5x8 in almost all their 1980s releases (at least the ones that I have owned) and Traxxas did/does as...
Note that in figure 6, there is this thing called a 'motor' plate to be placed between the motor and the gearbox. I remember ta01 also has something like this, sort of like a thing piece of green/grey piece, it...
I have more Tamiyas' in my collection, but this is the most recent one. I got it mainly for tormenting my son around the house. he loves to pick it up and carry it, so theres a small wrinkle on the one side.

It looks like you are a fan of VW's.
You build some of the cleanest cars on this forum.
Here's a link to a You Tube video. It's a race with a hotshot in it. If you move the end of the video you will see footage which shows a unique HotShot four wheel independent suspension set up. It really looks the business and I'm trying to find out...

This very thorough Japanese site raises doubt as to whether the Wild Willy may even be a knockoff of the Tomy 4wd Army Commander...the similarites are incredible.
