On a recent free Saturday afternoon (rarity indeed), I got in some local track time with my VONats Hotshot. There's a racer at our track who likes to take pictures and he's doing a great job! Thanks to Corey for the images. :D

@emerson- thanks! :D
@sonic- no problem. It's a little cold for the vintage plastic anyway and I'm going to my kids' soccer games. Hopefully we'll catch you up there in the spring.
this is the Bruiser im getting in a few days ( put a down $$ on it) he said its a roller, body is a toyota hilux, and missing parts.
there is no electrics. looks mostly complete too me,
can any one tell me what all i need for it? i plan to complete...

From what I can see in those pics you are missing the radio box, transmission plugs, shocks and steering linkage.
I think your body is the new Hilux body, judging from the holes drilled for the turn signals. I'm pretty sure the old...
heres a frog that i wrecked way back in the day. found it in a bag while doing some cleaning. the front A arms and suspension is broken, the rear swing arms broke clean off. few other broken parts. the front shock tower will get put on my original...

its hard to tip over, but it pops a wheely and sometimes flips over. might just end up putting on different rims and tires, convert it to a bug or a poor man's f150. i need them rims for another project, and ill be replacing all 8 that are on the...
I recently picked up this vintage BRUISER 3 speed truck from a friend on this forum. Although the metal parts are showing there age with evidence of oxidation (if thats the term?) and could do with a polish up. From what i am told this truck has...

No offence taken Mark, just stating facts.I had to sell it to fund my trip to the vintage 4 hour enduro in Melbourne.I checked with Jason to make sure he didnt mind me offloading it and he had no problem with it at all.I it wasnt for me selling some...
okay, i thought this thing was a tamiya toyota hilux race truck, m racer or some thing, but was told that it was something else? was told it was a blitzer, sorta looks the same, but not exactly, plus the guy i got it from said it was a hilux.

you have the blitzer body. they look similar from the front, but the rear of the hilux is different
Here is my frog project, I wanted a nice scorcher but I really don't like the chassis, yes it is more scale but I want a runner. so I an using a Frog chassis. its a little dusty its been on the bench for a year, while I search for parts. who ever...

I wonder if it's the horizontal rear shocks or the perfect wheelbase that makes the Frog a good car to adapt bodies to? The Blackfoot rear body mounts work perfect for lots of body adaptations. Back in the '80's I did a '55 Chevy dirt car based on...
This is my Wild One that I recently finished and I didn´t want to go boxart since there are so many nice ones out there. I chose a simple white, black cage and the damperparts are red as on the sprue. Had to repair the chassis since it...

That's a pretty one! I always wanted a Wild One to add to my Tamiya lineup. Nice pics too by the way. You obviously know what you're doing with a camera as well as the RC stuff. :) When I get my cars ready for quality pics like that, I hope to set...
I just bought this from a church op shop. They wanted $3 but I gave them $5.I would have been happy to pay that for the servo.Im sure its Tamiya from the stubs and rod ends. Can anyone tell me exactly what I have here?My local track just started...

With three days left on my vacation and after finally feeling close to 100% after having the flu (not swine) during my vacation I decided to just start opening boxes and not closing them til the projects inside are done. Sorry Scr8p, no 10s yet....

The body is on the list of wants for reproductions. I still need to find a decal sheet for obvious reasons/purposes.
I watching a video from another link on here and ended up watching several as they offer up more and I ended up watcking about an hour and didnt even realise it. well on to the point I found this one I really enjoyed it and after seeing...
How hot a motor you guys think I can run on that esc that comes in alot of the re-re kits before it lets the smoke out?
Last post
ive seen people running the 19t trinity komodo conservativley geared. i ran it with my hotshot re-re for a while with the 17t pinion and it worked just fine. didnt get too hot on me, neither the motor or esc.
I built my son a Midnight Pumpkin. He's only 3 1/2 but he loves helping me with my cars. and he spent as much time as his mother could stand at the track watching me race last summer. I think he will be into it to. its all stock I bought it from...

Rick, I have a Super Champ body I need to send you! That yellow paint looks great!
send it I owe you one, I would love to paint it for you, do you still have my address?
Other than its looks . what makes the wild one so wanted as a kit?
Last post
Wild one is said to be the last of the 1:1 scale buggy kits... the others that came out were based on designs not actually buggies.. . I personally prefer the Fast Attack Version.. would love Tamiya to re-re it.
A little something I have been working on and driving the last few weeks!

I have a feeling the Sand Scorcher will be available by Christmas. Its the 30th Anniversary for the Rough Rider and Sand Scorcher and what better way to celebrate it by releasing the VW for Christmas
I have had this kit for awhile now . I finally took the time to look at the manual. My god there must be a least 35 to 40 bearings in this car. What was tamiya thinking about on this one. I love the looks of this buggy but it seems they over...
Does anybody know what the difference is between the Tamiya Juggernaut and Juggernaut II. I've looked at the boxes and for the life of me can't see any real difference, must be something.

If I was to do it again, I would go with a TXT with a juggy body. The stock juggy chassis leaves a bit to be desired.

Gear box can handle the power pretty well. If you want to make it bullet proof, find the brass CRP gears. :D
If I was going to build an entry level vonats car, it would be a Frog and I would copy Brandon's setup. That car could race in 2wd buggy class and do well. (If Brandon was behind the wheel of course)
I think we need a thread on Brandons Frog HINT...
Ok, so I'm about to embark on my Blackfoot build with a load of hop-ups and chromed parts. One question as regards the transmission which I was hoping to canvas some thoughts on. I have both the Thorp telescoping drive transmission and the Thorp dog...

Sorry to ask again, but can anyone provide a link to the traxxas sliders that are referenced above?
The ones that will work with the blackfoot are from the 4tec.
We took the kids to a local car show/swap meet this past weekend. Tried to get the wife to buy a 1:1 project car but didn't quite convince her. One of the fleamarket vendors had a very dirty blackfoot for sale. I picked it up to check it over and he...

Very nice. I have two runners and probably enough parts to build two more. If you need any parts I may have some you could use.
Does someone knows if there are Tamiya Top Force repro bodies
available some where ?

yes, I think we're talking about the same: the dogfighter with the chain.
I don't own that car, just a body and it looks a good fit with minimal modification on the tray. For use on the dogfighter chassis the undertray is probably too short in the...
I remeber seeing this vidoe playing ay my local hobby shop. Joes hobby at wyoming and tireman in dearborn played this video . I was into RC planes at the time and just watched it when i was there. Now the planes are gone and

I wanted to find out if there's a place where we can get the gold 3mm X 12mm self tapping screws that was used on most (if not all) of the tamiya kits from the 80's.

Budget parking lot runner. I got this Carrera GT TB02 kit new for $40 last year and have never run it. I sold the stock Porsche body and tires for a total of $35. Snatched up a SC430 lightweight body from Tamiya for $20. Never really liked the look...

Hi all :)
The evenings are getting darker and this is what I came up with during those evenings: Another mixed-up car. It´s a Blitzer Beetle shell with a Monster Beetle-nosecone on an alu-chassis and TamTech dampers. Champagne, Light-gun metal and...

Here is my new biult dyna strom. What turn is the stock pink motor? Was this buggy very competitive in its day? Don't know if I will ever run it but just would like comments on its design. thanks dave

You should do a search for nimrod : there 's a thread on the site here with a reference to tamiyaclubs forum.

Although my heart starts pounding more & more for the RC10, I thought I could post this Sand Scorcher.
It has a MB-body and the chassiparts have been beadblasted. I painted it with 2 different grey (German Grey and Hazel Grey) since I...

That looks nice and clean. The grey color Reminds me of someone who has done a bunch of body work to his bug to get it ready for paint but still needs to drive it to work. Did you make the front bumper?
This chassis measures a strong 9-1/2 inches long. It came with a hot trick RC10 and a whole lotta parts that I have no clue about either. Those pictures will be next...

It still sits just as you see it. I would hardly say any Hot Trick products were engineered. Build tolerances are horrid, so is consistency. There was little to no fore-thought with assembly process/procedure either.
I have an RC10B4 and RC10 CE and my friend saw mine over the weekend. Thus, now he is interested in getting into the hobby and building a kit has the most appeal to him.
Given that he is budget minded does any one recommend a Sandviper over the...

The Sand Viper would be an excellent entry level car, great for starting out racing and playing around at the house. If he continues to race, he will eventually buy a B4.. Spend a little more now if possible. The RTR version you can find pretty...

I need to get on the ball regarding my RC10 Hot Trick build. It will probably get started in the fall or winter as I am very busy now.

Ok i want to know what are other opinions are on which was a better racer in its day.
I had to make this decession back in 85 or 86..

What I remember from my boomerang as 2nd weakest point was the massive wear out of the front suspension: the brass balls would get egg-shaped in no time and introduced play which then would wear out the plastic housing of those balls.
Wanting a sand scorcher but dont have the mucho $$ for one? Well here is one for us poor folk
Pretty simple really, 1 grasshopper, some brat rubber and rims, blitzer beetle lid and some craftiness.

Yea I got mine on ebay for like $30 now it didnt have all the chrome hardware tho which is the expensive stuff to get but I added leds so didnt really need those. My other beetle body is for the monster beetle I have and its the original tamiya body...

What shocks did you put on it???
I have a set of Yeh racing shocks that are 100mm and are perfect fpr the back but their 70 mm are too small for the front. The original ones dont much throw either.
Finished 4 bodies last week, and 3 more this week!
I found some netting and wanted to try a trick to get a lizard skin-look; something I had read about years ago.

Taking my time on the new buggy champ. I really like the kit but my favorite is the sand scorcher . I don't know what tamiya is up to but hope the re-release of sand scorcher is in the future . So I don't know what to do use the tower $60.00 off...

Buy the buggy champ now. You can always get an SS body later. If they do re-re the scorcher, then the bodies will be widely available and inexpensive.
I am going to do my first build third with pics as I go. This is going to be a replica of the Hornet I used to race in my teeny years, as best as I can remember it. I have a couple of old photos that I need to scan and I also have some video I need...
