Factory Works C2.1 conversions

Well, the C2 chassis was due for an update. The "2.1" versions have a narrowed chassis and are braced for rigidity. They are now drilled for the Lethal Weapon and 6 gear, and can be special ordered for stealth. The truck version requires A&L or Worlds steering and will require narrowing the rear rims or spacing the wheels slightly (The wheels don't rub, but the tires can) The fitment of electronics is tight, so smaller receivers and speed controls are preferred.

Love the shape of the chassis. I've put it on my list!

Hi Jeff,

I'd like to build a truck on the C2.1 platform. I don't now anything about Associated truck parts and will need some serious help! The only thing I have for parts are a Stealth transmission and some Worlds re-release front end parts (plastics). When you get time, could you provide a list of parts I'd need?

The truck front end is completely different. You would probably be best to locate a clip off eBay. The major parts that are different from buggy are the tower, bulkhead, turnbuckles, arms and hingepins. The buggy caster blocks and steering arms are the same. In the rear there are similar differences on a stock truck but for the sake of the trailing arm chassis only the bones are needed. Note that the rear wheel fitment is difficult on these, as the offset is very close to the trailing arm. A tire with a flat sidewalk will be best. You may want to chop off the inner part of the wheel and put the tire against the inside bead. Price you have to pay to make something work that was never meant to be haha

Thanks, Jeff. That gets me started on the parts search. If I get confused, I'll be back.

If you get past the noseplate you should be golden. Those bring money. The bulkhead and arms aren’t bad. Of course I know a guy for the tower and steering. Haha

I'm going to use big bore shocks from the AE B6 kits. I see what you mean about the nose plate.

You can also modify a buggy noseplates to fit a truck bulkhead if you come up flat on the truck nose.

Could you give me more info for the mod, pictures? I have a World's re-re black nose plate and don't mind doing some cutting.

Well, this was lost to the photsuckit scandal but it's from here and gives you the basic idea. The holes in the center don’t need to be monkeyed with. The two outer holes on each side are for the 10T bulkhead and the rest is trimmed away to narrow it. This one isn’t perfect but it gets the idea across

A proper bumper will cover the holes :-)

Although personally I’d probably just buy one of these aftermarket jobs

Will these CVD's work with the trailing arms?

T4 is too long I’m pretty sure  b2 and b3 would be fine.

The other issue is the 3/16 axles. You can run them but they take a special 3/16 x 3/8 flanged bearing to make them work.

Well, I'm not able to find any B2/3 CVD's on eBay. What axles and dog bones would I need?

Ahhh, 10T's right?
