I painted the wheel discs on my yellow wheels. I used Spax Stix paint, Hot Pink color. I am pretty bummed because they did not turn out pink. They are basically a bright red.

I wanted them to match the pink shock springs. The red does not match with anything else on the car. Does anyone have suggestions on what brand and color paint will produce pink wheel discs. The color of the paint I used could not have been more hot pink on the color sample. Real bummed.

My spazstiks hot pink turned red because I really heaved it on  . It usually turns out nicer and 'hot pinker' ( :P ) with extremely light coats but then spazstik paint never really ran the same can after can so you might just have a dark can. I know that sounds all cornholio'd but thats just been my experience with spazstik.

My best experience with hot pink has been with the faskolor flourescents if that helps any.

That does help. I think I should have done less coats, and it would have shown more of the true pink color. I will try the Faskolor. Thanks.

This is not the body that will eventually go on this truck, but it goes to show how nice the wheels would look if the pink matched the springs and pink decals. The Traxxas boat in the background is another result of my somewhat recent fascination with early 90's color themes, lol. I swore off Traxxas years ago, but I bit the bullet and bought this boat. It needs serious modification to get the water cooling to work. Out of the box, the electronics fry from overheating very easily. Serious ball drop by Traxxas, and a great example of why I typically do not buy their products anymore.

I had another go at painting the wheel discs pink to match. This set came out a much better match to the pink on the rest of the truck. Just a tad darker.

This will not be the final body, but it doesn't look bad. I installed a new vintage Racers Prep motor. The purple and pink with victory checkers looks right at home. However, I have another motor coming that I think may fit even better.

Still struggling to get my camera to pick up the true colors. The outside shots are very washed out.

Good effort on the discs - its the attention to detail that really makes a build.

Its always hard to get cameras to reproduce what your eye actually sees - your 'washed out' picture is over exposed - try 'spot metering' if your camera will allow such a setting.

That Traxxas boat really needs a trailer.

And to pull it you need a scaler. Which then leads to buying everything that Rogue Element Components makes. :D
I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.

Truck is looking great! The white paint job on the body contrasts really well with the pink wheel disks - proof that a little perseverance is often required to be 100% happy with our builds & well worth the effort! 8)

Major score on the earlier lightened/machined motor plate ~ they seem almost unobtainable compared to the later 'radially' machined plates (which seem quite plentiful) - again its this level of detail that really makes that vintage build special!

I installed the new MK1 motor plate, added the Hydradrive, changed out the dust things for black one that I dyed. I also added bearings to the steering rack. Also added a vintage chrome Tekin receiver and G-9 esc.

These pictures really suck. I cannot figure out how to make my photos look proper. All the colors look washed, and dingy.

Are you using your camera's flash? Then that can happen. Try a picture in natural light with no flash. Might also be a white balance issue. And some colors just don't show up well on digital camera pictures, especially neons :(

Nice looking truck. Can't say much more, cause I don't know much about Losi's

I finally found a brand new XXL Graphite chassis. I swapped everything over, and now this build is basically done. I don't think there is anything more I can and/or want to do to it. I was thinking of adding a Jammin carbon rear shock tower, but I actually prefer the look of the stock graphite towers. Maybe if they had made a front and rear it would look nice, but I don't like the idea of the towers not matching.

The last thing I need to do is decide how I want to paint the body. Still going back and forth between box art, or full on mid 90's awesomeness.

Once I paint the final body, I plan on getting some pictures with correct lighting, to show the true colors and details of the truck. Thanks to several members on here with help on this build. Without your assistance with information and parts, I never would have been able to get this far. This forum is a great source of vintage information, and have some amazing members.

The pictures below with the box art regular XXT body is a previous photo, with the L chassis.
