Tamiyadan's survivor restoration Top Cat.

Post by tamiyadan » Fri Mar 17, 2017 10:58 pm

Nice restore of my Top cat.

It doesn't have any of the front end revision parts to fix the under steer but it came out nice. i went with a similar paint as the Topcat on schumachers Timeline page. I made the graphic for the wing to kind of match the sticker on the website.

Very nice dan,

Love it's room mates too

have you though about putting a set of 2 row spikes on the front, they just look more 2wd lol.

Might also be able to help out with the narrow track front end if you really want it NIP.

Love it, truly out of the box thinking with that design. I raced one locally around age 14. Cecil Schumacher gave me one for free. I was working the local hobby shop booth at the Chicago hobby show which happened to be next to Schumachers booth. We struck up a conversation and he asked would I race one if I had it, yeah I would! I campaigned it for two years or so, never saw another one at the track.

Still looks wicked today but man did I hate those rubber bands in the front. I can't recall how I made them go away back then but I did which of course made it even more fragile. But I loved it.

locked it with zip tie?
i know some people that did that in place of the rubber o-rings, which of course could snap the mounts inside the front bulkhead. i know one guy that just put a screw through everything on his XL.

Beautiful cars!

I've got a question for you, where did you get the "dirt" paper for the bottom of your display case?

the Dirt paper i made myself on my home Artisan Epson printer and Epson Poster printer.
I made my own texture map from a photo i took of dirt in my back yard :D.

I created different sizes for my different displays.

smaller version for my single display cases

I wish I could find another one now. I've had a bunch over the years and seem very few and far these days.
