CAT 2000ec now with pics
Hey guys got cpl old schumies off a mate, one a cat 2000ec the other is what i believe is a sst99 pro although i am not posative about the onroad. I am giving them tidy up replacing the crappy screws with new hex head types, new shock pistons, mounts an spring cups, new shock shafts all round for both an several suspension pins on both also,i never new the schumie metal parts were so weak either that or i got two of the most trashed schumies out there . What i was wondring was if anyone knows of a belt replacement for the cat 2000ec front end? I may have an alternative but not sure... . Thanks in adavance everyone i love this place
I found this belt it's a Hot Bodies#66493 it's 170T an 510 long,it is slightly narrower than std, about 3.2 or 1/8th wide versus 4mm standard but i think it should fit

Re: CAT 2000ec
You can try tough-racing.com. They make repro belts for several chassis. You can also try a simple Google search for timing belts. If you know the pitch, width, etc., there are several belt manufacturers that you should be able to order them from.

You can also try www.sdp-si.com. They make all sorts of timing belts, including 3M spec. I bought a set from them for the rear pulleys.

Re: CAT 2000ec
This is the cat 200ec when i first got it.. Had to do new shock shafts, shock bottoms an seals, shock mounts an spring cups, most of the suspension pins, new body an undertray. The rear wing mount piece had both corners broken off an the actual wing mounts were broken so i made a new wing camber link mount out of some carbon sheet an used some A+L wing mounts an i made it the same width as my other wing mount dimensions like rc10 so i can share common wings..The mount i made lowered the wing an the new body had some imperfections along the mold line so to have it cover the rear shocks would have shown these up so i slammed it down an i think it looks killa. I also made an esc mount out of carbon all screws were replaced with hex screws an all nuts replaced with black nylocs..Turnbuckles are new but they are cheapo ones i thought looked like the original one but they are useless. The tyres are old losi ones that were in the box on some well used wheels so i did the acetone thing an put em on new wheels with black serated wheel nuts. Not sure if i will paint it up an use it yet.Sorry about not so good pics

Are you going to give it a run at Carine? It would be interesting so see how well it handles. My old cat 98 used to go pretty well!

The writing on my front (U1491) and rear (U1492) belts is as follows:
U1491: Gates PowerGrip GT 3MR510 KEVLAR
U1492: Gates PowerGrip GT 3MR195 Aramid
Based on the catalog screenshots below, both the Gates 3MR and Bando S3M have 3mm tooth spacing. However, the Gates PowerGrip GT tooth profile and measurements are slightly different than the Bando "3M" style belts. Have you experienced abnormal wear on the pulleys or skipping with the alternative non-Gates belts?
