Procat/Bosscat prototype...

Post by Jay Dub »

Well, here is the car I picked up a couple of weeks ago. It appears to be a Procat, with several Bosscat production and pre-production parts. It has a custom CF/Kevlar chassis, as well as some modified molded parts -e.g. pre-production molded pieces before all the bugs were worked out. LMK if you have any specific questions. I am going to build it up soon, and probably keep it as a shelfer. Who know, I may get bored with it and sell it -LOL. Enjoy -Jeff

Looks nice !! That front diff looks like the overdrive front pulley like the one I run in my Procat. What are the red parts used for at the front?

Actually, I got it off of e-bay (LOL). As fro the red parts, they are the front spacers that space the front tranny up above the chassis to provide clearence for the pulley and belt. I one piece unit appears to be broken so I imagine it incorporated a bumper of some type at one point. You can see that the chassis is unique because there is no slot for the front transmission. This is because the belt has been routed above the chassis, an uses the grey spacers to raise the front tranny.

Looks like this is going to be a great build.

Wondering what plans you may have for a front bumper? Which is part of the diff cradle on the BossCat.

I'm fairly certain that was my car. I gave it to a friend many years ago, as a parts car. I know he sold it on eBay, sometime last year. I'm assuming the previous buyer re-sold it. If it indeed was my car, those prototype parts are from the '91 Worlds.

The car is a mix of prototype Pro-Cat parts and production BossCat parts. Originally, it looked very similar to the prototype car in the other thread (http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=5966). I swapped the chassis, and added the BossCat parts later.

The front diff isn't anything special. It's a standard diff, with aluminum hubs and lexan belt guides. Schumacher sold the hubs, and Team Pit Stop sold the belt guides.

Well, I though it may be yours, as it had red dirt in the crevices (common in the south  ) and mostly AE hardware. I would love to see some pics if you had some laying around. Oh yeah, and some insight on what the front bumper looked like . Also, I seem to remember a pic from the winter champs maybe of this car? LMK -J

Hey Jeff. Based on you username, I didn't realize who you were. I just figured it out. :o

The bumper would have looked like the one on Jurgen's Detroit car, from the other thread. I doubt there were any pictures of this car in the magazines. Any Winterchamps pictures would have been of Jurgen's BossCat. He won 4WD the same year I won 2WD.

I did some searching through my old parts boxes, and found the original servo mounts.
