SWB Cat

Post by pedro »

Finally have finished what I bought about 8 years ago :D This is an original swb cat that was converted to an xl but the owner kept the original chassis plates and middle belt also has the original grey bumper (not pictured) in one piece  Anyway here it is as original as I remember them to be, I myself had an early xl back in the day as did a lot of people over here due to how heavily they were pushed in the racing scene by the 2 importers that were distributing the cars at the time and also the fact that these really were the only competitive cars to have until Yokomo got the yz870c out. I will have to get some better decals hopefully when the rerelease becomes available.

You did a great job!
I hate that buggy with it´s skipping belt and rubber band crashback front. Even a halfblind could beat me and the MID with it.
I´m traumatized

Looks great in those colours - they can look dumpy with the wrong paint job, but this looks very svelte.

Thanks for the kind words, I find it hard to believe this buggy is over 30 years old (I feel old) but I also find it very interesting to follow the development of these early Schumacher cars from this first one up to the Bosscat they were all a bit of pain to work on compared to the new stuff but can you imagine what would happen if you put a straight piece of piano wire and a template in a kit box these days twitter would just light up

Bosscat is a dream to work on compared to original - just removing the undertray on earlier CATS is a 30 minute job. When backwards again with 2000 imo.
