Well the rear went smoother than expected. I ditched the adjustable wheelbase spacers to increase the strength. Those pescy little buggers are a pain to install anyway and to easy to loose when you're doing a quick repair on the track side.

Absolutely perfect. What's next? Did you ever meet with that manufacturer? I did get quotes on your previous design but they only became cost effective at more than 50 sets. I really didn't check into 3d print, just machined pieces. I guess they don't like low volume. I wish I had friends that do that sort of thing like you guys. You know I'm still interested so please let me know when you're having some prototypes made. I'm in to invest. Keep me posted.
They asked me what I was thinking!? I simply told them... I wasn't.

Hey allen,
I'm sending over the designs today to get prototypes done : 1 piece of each. Then it's fitting time and hopefully all is good. Ifnot there'll be another iteration.

I think you missed a couple posts: I've put up all the info they shared on the previous page ;)
We met at a race in the Netherlands and I put together a car especially for that day. You can see some pics here:

Love the CAD work Ed very nice!

I want to look at getting some cougar 2 front arms printed but don't have the Cad knowledge or skills to draw them up myself any chance you maybe persuaded to have a look at drawing them up for printing? Or suggest a suitable program in the right format that could be used by me

Cheers adrian

Adrian,
I've sent orb racing an email to check whether they have these in their portfolio already.

Not owning a cougar, cougar2 or club10, I don't see much benefit for me to design these and pay for prototypes.
If you want to persuade me, I'll need to find someone in belgium who can borrow me their car for the design and test of prototypes. And you'll need to find a way to cover the cost of the prototype(s).
Now, let's leave this yokomo thread andresolve to personal messages instead.

woohoo! Got my proto-types today.

First: pics!
Front-proto1.jpg
Rear-proto1.jpg

I test-fitted the rear one and noted some small alterations needed:
  • a bit too tight at the gearbox side for the plastic gearboxes. (I took the measurements on the aluminium ones)
  • a bit too tight on the axle carrier side
  • the logo imprint is 90% lost in the texture. Either I make it simpler and bolder, or discard it entirely.
  • the pin-to-pin distance is about 1.5 mm too short, and could easily have another 1.5mm extra to make it work with the 91 and wider driveshafts of the '94. (No worries: they'll still be plenty deep in the outdrives and there's plenty room before the legal max width 'd be reached.)
  • the pin at the axle carrier side could use 1° extra toe-in
  • the reinforcement rib on the leading edge of the arm interferes with the motor when the motor is in its furthest back position and the suspension is compressed
The front arms I didn't test fit yet, but I already noted they are somewhat too tight for the C-carrier too. I'll try and fit these tonight to check whatelse needs improvement.

Overall I'm glad I made the proto-types. It would have been annoying if they were produced and went out to you guys in the current version.
I'll definitely need to to do the same for the ulitma hop-ups too.

PS: I'll probably start my own thread rather than continuing to expand this one.
