Kyosho Assault

Post by SFC K »

Hey all! I picked this up and don't know much about them. I do have the manuel for it and a spare chassis parts. It needs some work and really, I have not had a chance to see what all needs to be replaced. Does this look like a good subject to restore or convert it to brushless?

I did find some parts on the bay but not sure what way I should go with this. I did a search on here and found nothing.

Thanks, Jeff

They were fun. One of my friends had one. They were unbelievably fast when bashing with all the other 80s electric cars. But, it was almost like a rocket put on a too small frame. It was back heavy and would tilt up. It also broke often and went through tires - not to mention the noise. It's basically a gas Turbo Scorpion.

Thanks for the replies guy's! The guy I bought it from local told me the pretty much the same thing. Hence the other chassis. If you look at the almost complete chassis it has what looks like JB weld mending the bottom rails. I need the exhaust so I can attempt to fire it up at least once...

I wouldn' t need much to make it electric: just a fitting gearbox (I think omeone used an RC10stealth on a similar car)

So, if tooling arond and geting creative is your thing; you'll have a blast. But keep in mind the suspension on these cars is quite limiting on the performance; so don't expect it to get anywhere near competitive unless your local club will run a vintage class

You onely nead a motor plate and a geer cover to make it electric! Costs about 20$ on eBay :D and a few gears
