What's the crosspin-to-pinhole length on those? I've learned there's quite a few different lengths...60.5, 62.5, 65.5, 69, 73mm...maybe more?

I remember staring at those things in Tower Hobbies catalogs back in the day. What're the advantages of a U-shaft over the standard dog bones?

I believe they wear better and transfer power more evenly, regardless of whether the suspension is compressed or not. They turn smoother no matter what your suspension is doing, to simplify it.

for a 4wheel drive they're a big improvement on the front. Standard dogbones have a tendency to pop out.

That's actually a pretty good price. Normally, if you happen to find some, they are priced at $45.

This seller has a few of these 62.5mm CVD's left. The part number is LA245. It's for the Kyosho Lazer but they work quite nicely in an Optima. Pretty hard to beat $25 with $2.50 shipping. 8)

EDIT: Kyosho sells 'em for $57.99.

Darn, I been watching those for like three weeks. I just haven't had the extra $$ to drop. He did have like 5 or 6 sets. I suppose they'll be gone soon now.

Yer lucky I only needed one set. I would've kept this to myself if I needed the others. ;)

But, I believe in sharing good deals with my fellow RC fanatics. 8)

Wow, ok. So these will fit in my Optima Mid? If they work better than the standard dogbone I'm in! Are they for the front or the rear?

You'll have to measure your existing dogbones from cross-pin-to-cross-pin. If they're 62.5mm, these should work. Note that these require 12mm hex hubs with cross-pins to mount the wheels, not the old press-fit hubs.

I'll do that. If they don't fit, there's always the old-school style u-shafts...

-Edit, by cross pin you mean the small pegs that are perpendicular to the shaft, that fit into the hub? In that case I'm measuring 63.5 mm-no fit for me... :(
