MMV ultimate revenge: 14 sept. 2012: 1 year and still going
Ok, here it goes:
Turbo ultima chassis
STR15 bumper
custom works sliding steering rack
Associated direct servo saver
Lazer ZX5 CVD's
Associated Stealth drivetrain
Traxxas Blue agle rear arms
Losi pro SE jammin front shock tower
Medium length kyosho gold shocks
Hotshot roll-cage with self-made lexan roof
Hot trick front axles
Academy 2.2" wheels and modern rubber
modified JG topdeck
click-click home made batterystrap
Home-made Stealth mount braces: upper and lower
modified rear shocktower and bulk carrier with aseparate drag link mount plate
new body mount design
The battery goes in lengthwise and the receiver sits between the low profile servo and battery, under the AMB. Only the ESC sits on the topdeck.
The Mabuchi 540 was for the stock class race I took these pictures at.

Re: MMV ultimate revenge
Very nice entry! I'm digging the Hotshot cage, longitudinal battery layout and long front shock setup! I'm doing a similar thing with my entry (with the shocks anyway). I don't think mine will be finished in time for the end-of-October deadline, though.
This car is a worthy contender, you have more great mods than I could shake a stick pack at.

Re: MMV ultimate revenge
Thanks guys.
It 's a bit funny this ended up being the build for the MMV contest. At first I built it to compete in a vintage event.
To keep with the spirit of the event I tried to maintain the original looks: hence the 'original' body and frame chassis. But I wasn't going to let the vintage spirit stop me from all I could to personalize and 'improve' it
The stealth came in last Saturday and I ran a second race already on Sunday.
Before the last finale it started pooring rain. Me and my buddy, who runs a mostly stock ultima were the only ones prepared to run our last heat.
So we had a little flashback with 2 ultimas tailing eachother down the track for a 10 minute or so run.
Earned us both a cup, first one in years
But when I got off the track the wheels on the car started spinning and not long after that white smoke told us I had allowed wather to run along the moterwires, under the body and into the ESC: holding the car vertical. Bummer; third vintage ESC to die this year.

Now that is amazing! How difficult was it to stuff a stealth tranny in it? Can you take a few more pics of the tranny?

Re: MMV ultimate revenge
That is beautiful Erik, most probably your fastest and most consistent car I guess? I always thought an Utlima needs a Stealth tranny to make it perfect. Where did you race it in the end? In the Netherlands? I can't wait until we arrange a racing day again together. Been travelling around in Europe quite a lot these last weeks and life is a bit hectic at home as well with our second son. I'll contact you any time soon.

Nooooooooh, my mid motered cars drive better actually. Still need to put pictures of my converted academy actuallyAsso_man! wrote:That is beautiful Erik, most probably your fastest and most consistent car I guess? I think I've put too much toe-in using the traxxas arms: the car is really very pushy at nail speed it turns very tight but as soon as I touch the throttle it's like a boat. Maybe I'll switch to otpima rear arms, but then the colr doesn't match with the white andy's in the front
Yes, the Netherlands, but the staelth was added for BPT in Merchtem. They don't have many races but we can arrange some practise whenever you like (and Yuka doesn't plan something else
Not that hard actually, but the outdrives are closer centered and that's where it gets harder. That's why I used the longer ZX5 CVD's. They turned out the exact right length...after trying numerous axle carriers with different offsets on the traxxas arms. (I haven't measured up the width yet after all the changes; scared it might be a couple mm too wide to be legal.)Momo5 wrote:Now that is amazing! How difficult was it to stuff a stealth tranny in it? Basically I have a 3mm black fiberglass piece under the stealth. The rear of the gearbox sits against the rear suspension holder and is bolt onto the fiberglaas piece with countersunk screws. I had just enough space left in front of the gearbox to use the original mount holes of the original gearbox. Tapped thread in the fiberglass piece and tadaaa:
If I'd had more time I'd have redone the black piece and fixed it using 2 more M4 countersunk screws: through the holes under the outdrives you can see in the above pic.
This is about all I have sofar:SMOKE-DOG wrote:Nice work. Very creative.

And with the original gearbox next to my buddies utlima:
with thanks to a Dutchguy over at Oople:

Re: MMV ultimate revenge
Nope: the cross-section in the middle of the pack can be clicked loose, and slides out.
Everything is a real tight fit lengthwise with the nimh stick packs.
I still have to figure out how to put in the new lipo saddle pack I got. Now it's just about 4mm too long. It would be good if I could get get that sorted for the next stock race; to make the car a little lighter and have some more punch for that stock moter.
