I would highly recommend opening that transmission box up and checking to make sure the main differential balls are well lubed/not damaged and also tighten it up nicely. My nephews pro-xrt transmission appeared to be in good shape for the first 5-runs and eventually a the differential gear melted from over heating the diff balls were melted in the plastic and had a somewhat difficult time finding a replacement differential.

I totally agree! Back in the days when we got the pre-production Pro-X buggie, we had grate problems with the diff melting down! In my opinion, that was a shitty tyranny and one of the biggest resound I left the Kyosho international team. When the car went in to production most of the tyranny problems was solved, but not all of them. Apart from that, it’s a nice car to drive. I still have my pre-production car.

Nice score still. :D

Here is the thank you video of me and nephew made to member AdamLancia for sending us the differential gear. We turned the esc to the lowest setting as we wanted to "break in" the new differential.

Why Kyosho went "backwards" to an LRM-type tranny with the Pro-X cars remains a mistery to most of us...

gotta take pics of my new built Pro-XRT to post here ;) Not sure about the denomination but yours seems to be the "sport" version without the equalizer shocks. if there are so many diff issues with the car, I would recommend you swap any plastic/metal bushings for proper bearings in the trannt, in case kyosho would have used the cheaper solution BITD.

no matter what, for $40, nice score for sure!

Paul

I think they signed up an old Losi engineer and develop the tyranny in US together with some team drivers. And I thing they also was former Losi... This is what I’m have been told 20years ago if I remember it correctly

The best solution to any SST equipped vehicle (other than shelfers) is to replace the entire transmission with an A&L Lethal Weapon. It's the nicest, smoothest ball diff that you can get for a Kyosho. It's right up there with the Stealth diff. I could never get the SST diff smooth. If it was smooth, it was too loose and slipped. Tight enough not to slip and it was gritty.

thanks for info - looks like the only possible reason, really... They should've hired someone from AE instead :D

You are welcome, and I totally agree with you, they lost many drivers for that resound. I left for Losi XX, but I drove the Lazer ZX-RR for another year until Losi realest there 4WD.
