Time for a topic change: New project (as if I needed another one... ): Ultima ST on crack. See post five for what I'm starting with.

Does anyone know whether the Ultima RB or Ultima ST Type-R suspension arms fit older Ultimas?

Also, on the original Ultima, the rear hinge pin blocks have holes further inward from the hinge pin holes. What are those for?

More modern Ultima arms will be too wide for sanctioned racing...if they fit or are made too. The inner mounts are for use with the longer arms of the Ultima ProXL. You also have to have the appropriate rear bulkhead with the extra inner pin holes.

Most of the later Ultima bulkheads and rear suspension arm holders have the extra hinge pin holes molded in. The early ones don't have those. If you want longer arms, your choices are limited to the Pro XL's or the Andy's arms. I think you can use Triumph arms but those are usually rare and expensive.

Okay, thanks. The Ultima I plan to build will be somewhat of a hodgepodge of parts anyway, so I'll see what works

What I got.
- Scale Car Ultima converted to Ultima ST, with original Scale Car Porsche body (butchered).
- Gold shocks (front ones with shot o-rings, possibly no oil either, Tamiya hi-cap square springs).
- Ultima ST rear wheels x4 (rear tires shot, front wheels are rear wheels mounted up front with no bearings and original  assembly)
- a lot of dirt and dust
- partial rear tranny without gear cover, intermediate gear pretty chewed up (is it supposed to be mounted to a screw?)
- no ball bearings whatsoever from what I can see.
- a steering servo (whether it works remains to be confirmed)
- apparently no broken parts except for a body mount that looks cracked and the trashed body.

What I'll keep:
- Chassis plates, rear bulkhead & hinge pin mount
- gold shocks
- body mounts
- body, will need to be fixed up
- Arms, possibly

What I want:
- A&L steering
- A&L Lethal Weapon tranny w/ slipper
- full ball bearings
- adjustable links
- frp or carbon shock towers
- Proper truck conversion (on the other hand...I have vintage Ultima buggy tires...)

Anyone know a good alternative for the Ultima motor guard?

*grumbles because his Ultima Pro shock towers appear to have been lost in the mail...5 weeks from the UK and counting...*

for a real truck conversion you use RC10T suspension arms:

Anyone know whether Fiber Lyte makes Ultima shock towers?

Order Ultima Pro shock towers from a well-known Ebay store, and they got lost in the mail - twice  .

If Fiber Lyte doesn't have what you looking for you can always try asking them if they can make CF parts with your stock metal/alu parts as a blueprint.

An alternative is to buy raw CF and a dremel and make them your self. That's what I did for my next project: an Optima Mid runner. Picture attached:

Yeah, I've been wondering whether simply copying them onto glassfiber sheet wouldn't be the best option.

Those carbon fiber bits look nice. :D What dremel bit did you use to cut them out?

If you're still going for the truck: get some ST-15 towers from tower. They're not cf or gf but they are a direct fit and the front tower is higher so it will take those longer front shocks for a real truck without modification.

I do all mine by hand and I prefer just drills and files. I did this A&L Gear cover in G-10 just to see if it was possible.
