Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
You gonna go for the new version of the transmission?[/quote]
I don't know yet yet , I mean I am very content with the original, have the 2 versions and have the beefed up one fitted. I must say the geared diff could have been smoother. I am still eyeing for a CRP ball diff ($255 from John's hobbies?), maybe if I win a lotto or something. But yeah you can not go wrong with the new gearbox, retro and freakishly MODDED up and IMPROVED. If you want a ball diff and you know you do than getting the complete gearbox is the way to go. I have yet to see the ball diff, loving the geared one, really compact, you would think its a ball diff !!! Fitting the new one would not look out of place, not one bit, rather it will add to that awesome look . I will be buying them slowly enough.
Gotta wait for the hopups to surface and flood the market, they will sell like hot cakes for the new and old scorpions alike, kyosho is waiting for everyone to get they hands on the re-release before they supply you with the ammunition (hop ups).

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
HI!... Well I finally decided to get one.
Well I couldn't sleep last night so I decided to start building the Scorpion.
I went to start to build the roll cage for the body when I realized something was not right. The dummies at the factory gave me 2 left sides to the roll cage!!! The right side is missing. So I ordered another one. Should be here next weekend.

Got a question about some of the parts on the Pargu Website.
Will these clamps fit the stock shocks?
http://www.pargustore.com/kyosho-red-shock-clamp.html
I would also like to use the metal cage and I wonder which wing mount I would need?
This one:

Or this one:

Thanks,
Brooke

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
My Scorpion has been patiently waiting for me to build it since I received it in July. I'm trying to hold off on opening the box until winter, so I have something to occupy my time while it is butt cold outside. Today, I bought all the black parts (chassis, wing, wheels, stubby front bumper). I'm going to buy a set of the JConcets RC10 tires to fit onto the wheels too. Still trying to decide what brushed motor to pair up with my Traxxas XL-5 ESC. I'm thinking either a Tamiya motor of some sort or maybe a Reedy Radon.
RC10 Short Arm | Novak Tempest ESC | Tamiya Torque Tuned 25T | Savox 1258 | Stealth Trans w/ Exotek Slipper Eliminator (geared 24/81)
RC10B3 | HW Just Stock Club Spec | Reedy 13.5 | Savox 1258

The lemans 490 is basically made for it. It's a little pricy but that would be my choice

I don't see a measurement on the clamps, so my guess is "maybe"
I've never purchased either wing mount.
It's not the body odor, it's waiting for someone that knows the answer. Sometimes that takes more than 24 Hours

I measured the kit shocks and they seem to be 10mm across and he is selling what looks to be the same clamps on eBay and has them listed as 10mm. He doesn't have any measurements on his website and they are listed under Ultima but not Scorpion!?gomachv wrote:I don't see a measurement on the clamps, so my guess is "maybe"

As for the wing mount, I can't figure a way to use the cheaper of the two since the verticle holes won't match the horizontal holes in the wing without the chunk of aluminum on the more expensive unit.
I may just go for the clamps and skip the rest since the cage and wing mount are more cosmetic. Seems like the clamps are a genuine weakness with this kit. And red aluminum is cool.

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
My guess is the clamps would work...the original Optima/Ultima red shocks are 10mm; the Option House Gold shocks are 12mm. If a caliper says the new Scorpion shocks are 10mm diameter, then Pargu's alloy clamps should work.

Cool. Now if he would get some Aluminum wheels back in stock I'd be into that big-time.Coelacanth wrote:My guess is the clamps would work...the original Optima/Ultima red shocks are 10mm; the Option House Gold shocks are 12mm. If I had to guess, I would say somebody is getting anno'd
"shock collars"
I made my own out of aluminum for 10mm shocks, they fit the original 10mm and the re re 10mm.
Kyosho America's site is showing the wing bracket under option parts, take a look when you get a chance.
They have listed quite a few parts in the last 2 days!
None available yet
