I need the small silver gear that goes on the shaft of the motor and the gear that one meshes with, the large flat gear. Labeled 11T and 41T in this picture:

Both of those gears should be easy to find. I'm sure some people here have extras to trade. :)

The silver gear on the motor shaft is the pinion gear, and the large middle gear is the counter gear...and that's a pic I made, many years ago. The "T" simply refers to the tooth count...that pic was taken of my Turbo Optima many years ago. What's the typical tooth count of an Ultima pinion gear, 14T? I think the OEM counter gear was the same for the Ultima as the Optima, if I remember correctly.

Well, I’m back at it. Finally ordered a new pinion and Um-1 gears. I’m getting a Spektrum STX2, receiver, nimh batteries, and charger from someone local tomorrow. Hopefully I’m finally moving forward.

I’ve made more progress over the last few days. Most importantly, I’ve ordered a bunch of parts. I also found an awesome guy on the Kyosho FB group that helped me replace all of my damaged screws (using the wrong screw driver as a kid) and hooked me up with some motors and accessories. What a great community! 👍🏻

I mounted a new Hitec HS-645MG steering service and mounted my old Futaba MC-112B ESC (I hope this works). I also started a R/C field box out of my old tackle box that I’ve had about as long.

I’m waiting on a Spektrum STX2 and a DumboRC X6 to arrive (I bought the DumboRC after I read bad reviews on the STX2, I may not use it). I also have some wheels and tires coming. I’m running Tamiya wheels, so I ordered some 4mm bearings to adapt them in the front (10mm or 11mm I can’t recall)

The car is looking great! This certainly has been a long term project. Thanks for taking the time to return and update this thread.
I don't do FB so unfortunately I'm missing out on a lot of interesting content - but it's my choice.
By chance, do you still have the old photos to replace the broken links on the first couple pages of this thread?
Having those photos will be helpful to others who visit this site in the future.
Thanks again and please keep us updated on your projects.

I've had it up and running now for a few months. I rebuilt the shocks, but they still don't feel great - they're gritty and not very smooth. But it runs and drives awesome overall! I do need to find a new servo saver because mine is very sloppy and the steering isn't very accurate. But it works and puts a smile on my face to drive it!

I got my son a Traxxas 1/16th E-Revo to drive with me, so we're both having fun...

Sounds like you're living the dream! Your Ultima looks great, too!

To use a newer brushless setup, by the parts for the "New" Ultima transmission, it includes a slipper. If you try a brushless with th ball dif it will fry it, or just strip out the plastic gears.
That is what I'm using to freshen up my old Turbo, gonna rebuild the stock trans , and store it in a bag , lol.
I got all my parts(mostly) on EBay .... Another plus is that it's all 48 pitch gears
