The front part of the chassis that connects to the front piece was in the "C" shape and as I was tearing mine down both sides snapped right off as I took the screws out. Another thing that has me puzzled is every time I find a vintage Kyosho to restore, repair parts are hard to find.Phin wrote:
The weak point on the HT Raider design is probably the front piece that the top deck mounts to. I'm thinking it's a C or Z shaped bracket that's screwed onto the front kickup, and, given the alum HT used, it probably didn't hold up well to a crash, or hard landing. That bracket looks like it is also a mounting point for the front arms...so when it did bend that was for the front suspension.

Interesting topic as I just picked up a Turbo Raider this week that I would like to restore. I'm with Mr. Ed and would like to see more info on this conversion.

Had a hunch parts would show up on eBay soon after this thread was posted. The seller bummed Mr. Ed's ad pic from the first post so he must've read this thread.

Is the guy that made the Lohas stuff still in business? Maybe he can help you out for some missing parts.
Hot-Trick's designs were in one way very smart: they stuck to basic manufacturing for small series. That makes them relatively easy to reproduce for a small toolshop.

Very cool to see those parts. Now the only part I haven't seen from a Cali raider is the chassis.
I guess that now officially makes the Advance Super Sport the rarest hop-up part/kit since I haven't seen one of those yet.

Re: hot trick I wouldn't mind to find under the christmas tr
Ya know...that lower kick-up looks an awful lot like the Hot Trick Ultima kick-up. Could you check if the holes line up with an Ultima bulkhead? Even has the holes for an extended wheelbase....though the Cali-Raider top deck doesn't have matching holes for a longer wheelbase.
I was a bit off on how I thought the front end would work. I guessed that the forward mounting holes of the front arms were actually part of the lower kick-up and the rear holes were part of the bulkhead.
EDIT: Never mind. Just compared the kick-up to an Ultima's and the Cali Raider is longer in the middle.

Wow that does look like Ultima, didn't notice it at all. I'll measure it up and let you know

Would've been nice if they shared the same kick-up since that bend that dips down over the edge of the chassis is the tough one to make. The bulkhead can be done with a plain old bending brake.
Could've sourced an Ultima kick-up from Lohas.

Since they aren't using the raider bulkhead there would be no need to reuse the holes, so I'm sure they reused it. Makes perfect sense.
