A&L Steering on a Kyosho Lazer ZXR mods.

Post by USA-1 »

I had some spare pieces laying around. I used the one for Ultima used 6-32 SS screws and Nylon blocks with 6-32 threads.

I had to remove some material to clear top deck at the servo link up.

Used existing top plate, works great nice and smooth.

Nice work. I did the same with a Lazer a few years ago. As long as you can find (cut) the correct spacer...it fits like a glove :) On mine, I had a nut against the chassis holding down the long screw. This way, I could use an spacer....and then another nut on top of the plate. the post for my A&L used the 4/40 thread vs the 8/32.

Regards,
Roger

Interesting, does lighten the car a tiny bit plus less space is used up. Also like the servo reverse so its facing the outside and means replacing the servo horn without any issues. Since my redesign on the front gearbox may try this on my car, but as my cars balanced & servo is further inboard may be an issue on handling. Still I like this mod. Give us an update on servo placement.

The Ultima had SAE thread screws? I thought that was an Associated only thing?

You should be able to just reverse the servo installation so the horn is facing outward instead of inward.

Ive got 2 sets of the A&L steering for Yokomo or Associated. Are they the same between applications? Looks good on a Kyosho. I havent used mine because it would require drilling new large holes on Yok, with large countersinks, as they take the fat rc10 chassis screws.
