Optima Pro - belt drive

Post by dinglem »

Does anybody have any information on this? It's a little before my time as I only had a couple of Mids from the Kyosho range bitd.

It has a belt drive conversion which I believe was an optional upgrade. Anything else I should know about?

That one isn't mine. A friend of mine builds up Mids and got a pile of spares with one of the cars he purchased, which he quickly realized was an actual complete car which had been stripped down - he didn't know what it was as before his time too. He steadily worked out where everything went and this is the result. He offered it to me a while back but I didn't take it at the time. I imagine he still has it.

Shock close-up. That's all of the pics I have of it.

The chassis or at least the shock towers, side plates and motor guard are great vigor beagle. I think the shocks are too, but beagle came with black springs. Its mostly beagle from what I can see. No worries though,,, beagle and optima are pretty much 100% compatible parts wize.

That box and documentation are more scarce than the cars. Ive never seen them. That first one at 90 bucks was my last build.

you can also determine if it was the kyosho kit or aftermarket
Great link.
I now know that the belt drive on my vintage Optima/Turbo hybrid is the Option House version.
Sweet.

No, that's not a Kyosho motor guard. And just to be nitpicking, the Kyosho gold motor guard (and the side guards) were not parts of the limited "Celebration kit".

Just to add, i got given this car for free in the end, so not all bad. I might build it up as an Optima-ish and see how it runs. Came with a 240ST as well.
