I was wondering about the shocks too,, AE hardware, but purple. Nice match to the ball cups. Any you guys ever try to dye the white g-10? I wonder if it would take color from rit dye.

I've tried with some good heat and couldn't get it to take on my g10. Early associated stuff sure took it well. Scuffing it should help but I haven't tried on my own stuff

Yup, shocks are Academy with AE plastic.

The times I´ve tried dyeing natural G10, black, it ended up being brownish.

Those are not Golds, they are Academy...buuuuut....
My anodizers pricing went up last year, it's $30 to strip and $45 to ano (there are more add ones like hard anno and bright dip) for a minimum shop charge. i have taken in 4 compete rc10 pans with motor plates and nose plates, shocks and misc screws and still been within the minimum charge.

I looked for some academy shocks,, those purple ones look great! However,, managed to find some good ole golds. In rough cosmetic shape of course. Hopefully the shafts are good.

It makes sense that there would be a minimum shop charge. There was an artical in rccaraction back in 90s about home anodizing using I think household windo cleaner as the dip, and getting a real light blue from it. It might be interesting to see if theres a home dip gold...

Nice looking LWB mid! I think its the best Kyosho vintage buggy, even over the Lazers. I like the way mine handles, although it stays grounded, so no idea how they jump.

Many Thanks -

This would be what you´re looking for, if You want purple Academy shocks. The rears are a little bit shorter than the golds - the fronts match the short golds.

Those are practically Kyosho Gold clones. What are the internals like? Do they skimp on O-rings like the Duraleaks did?

I was thinking the same thing. Looks pretty much like gold shocks in purple. Back when I raced an sb pro, it seemed the shocks were fine, but they werent those though. Its weird about the duratrax shocks. Mine didnt leak, but they had almost no damping with 35 wt oil and stock springs. Cant remember if they came with different pistons.

Its cool how opt mid has excellent shock position and geometry with only 2 upper mount choices. Really a well thought out design. They should have carried it further before going with lazer 2 belt design.

I have a few sets of Duraleaks that definitely leaked...and have acquired many sets of Kyosho Golds, sometimes with ancient-looking beat-to-crap shock bodies but when I opened the caps, plenty of oil came out. I have yet to find shocks that worked as well or as reliably, or were as easy to adjust, as Kyosho Golds...so when I wanted colored shocks for my Barney build, the only solution was to deanodize and reanodize them my own colors. 8)
