building a lazer zxr for vintage class help!

Post by Tamiyaterror »

ive decided the time has come to actually have a crack at vintage racing, not wanting to run either of my shelfer's ive aquired a rather rough lazer zx-r, im planning on rebuilding and replacing quite a few parts, i mainly wanted to know if there are any reccomended upgrades id need to consider to enable me to run modern brushless electrics, looking at around the 7.5 motor area. any help or advice from anyone who races these would be greatly appreciated.
ill post pictures up, once the car has actually landed.

Tensioners for the front belt, fibre lyte do a L brace with a slot in for a simple screw bearings an nut fix and even though i havent done the design yet but a belt tensioner for the rear belt but do know some guys are doing ok with a 7.5 so ight be ok. Also ceramic big diff balls and tungsten thrust race are a must. If running lipos the would rrcomend raising the top deck by 3mm front and rear by using spacers/washers under top deck as this stops you shorting the saddles out. Put a smaller servo in like futaba s9551 and use rc10b4 servo mounts with spacers to push servo closer to the belt and get a kimbrough servo saver. By doing that your moving weight closer to the centre of the chassis. Get a ZX sterring plate (one with the angled ends) and pure ten blue steering parts, this stops bump steer, but may need a small washer between both) . Question is how far are you prepared to go? Lists endless and fibrelyte do most including my tub chassis.
