After sorting out the MID spares, I felt all enthusiastic and decided to build another. The last couple of builds has been LWB´s so this time it is SWB time.

First I built the balldiff and replaced the original spacer with a sleve and a bearing - this should take care of the wobbly tendencies

Next was fitting a slipper shaft and assembly of the rear transmission.

The finished rear transmission

Rear transmission mounted on the chassis and the rear suspension arms installed with a 2 degree TF option part

Next up is the front diff, which actually isn´t a diff, but a one way. I like how the bearing shields match the yellow on the pulley.

Next time, I´ll tell You all about how I mounted the front transmission and the shock towers

Hey Dennis, can you tell me more about that slipper gear assembly you're using? Is that the B4 slipper gear mod?

It´s a mash-up - Carson shaft and spring, Traxxas gear and Kyosho plates :)

Looks great, 1st car I ever put on a real track was a Turbo Optima Mid SE, I replaced it with a Yokomo YZ10 and probably threw it away like a stupid kid because I had something "better". Of course today I want it back.

I digress, nice build.

Thanks for the kind words, billpete.

Replaced the "Ketchup" shocks with a set of Mayonaise.
Mounted some new FRP bell cranks (LA361) which dimension wise, is the same as the 39655 blue special unicrank set.

Looks very, very good :)

Can you comment on the quality of the Mayo dampers?

Could you also please let us know what carson (and other) exact part refs you used for the slipper?

Thank you!
Paul

Thanks for the kind words.

Slipper plates: Kyosho LA204
Slipper Shaft: Carson 500405684
Gear : 14T 0.8M 5mm bore Traxxas 5640

The flange on the shaft needs to be slimmed a little (bearing side).
A slim bearing (3mm) is installed in the gearbox at the non load side.
I´ve drilled and internal threaded (3mm) the shaft at the non load side, to hold a countersunk washer for keeping the non load bearing in place.

The Mayo shocks are spot on - good quality. E-clips are a bit rough though.
The plastic has a different texture - but if mounted with Kyosho plastic, I´m not sure I would be able to tell the difference.
