Kyosho Ultima C2.1 Trailing Arm Conversion

Post by GoMachV »

Something a little different for the Kyosho crowd. This conversion for the Ultima is similar to my other C2.1 conversions but lacks an upper deck and uses a Traxxas front bulkhead and special tower to simulate a Kyosho front end. It is wider than stock, pushing it to XL width up front with stock arms. Stock steering fits. You can use a Outlaw Ultima upper deck on this one if you choose, and you can use the Pro XL style uppers as well. Set up for RC10 battery boxes but if your using the Outlaw upper you can also use the stock zip tie setup. The chassis is set up for both stock trans and LW of course

The ultima crowd is often left out, so I had to do something

I think I even see Tamiya in the mix: the fronts wheels, not?

Yeah, I didn't want to spend a ton on wheels so I cut down a pair of $4 TRF wheels

Thats a sweet shape for the trailing arm set. Im a bit confused about the front end though. Is it the traxxas bulkhead that gives the kickup? So, it pretty much needs a top deck to brace the front end if its built to run?

Todd,

I think 'Trasho' is the term you were looking for....

Seriously though, loving these C2.1 chassis kits.... great work yet again, GMV!

Yes it will be sold a couple different ways. It will fit a stock upper, it will fit pro xl mini braces, and I'll do a custom one like the 2.1 conversions where it will wrap around the battery. I just haven't had time to finish it off

Jeff, I really recommend at least a short brace from the bulkhead to the steering posts. Without that the nose bents and the gets torn around the front body mount.
