Sounds like the cages will be available in several colors.

Also sounds like the imminent Turbo will not have the correct wheels, as kyosho’s crowdfunding failed (I know, wtf?!). Probably be like the Turbo scorpion with the ridiculous looking 2.2’s instead of a true tribute car

There is new talk that even tho the crowdfunding failed, there is still hope for a Turbo with proper wheels and tires...

See TomEG’s blog..

Those cages in all the different colors look very tasty. White cage, black wheels, smoke tint ano on the aluminum parts........I feel another build coming on. 8) I wonder if the new cages will bolt right up to a vintage Optima. I was hoping they would be released with the tall pointy spike tires that looked like a gladiator weapon. I'm liking the detail of the driver. Looks alot better than the reproduction one on my vintage Javelin.

It’s looking the cages should fit but they did change some things quite a bit including the wing mount and wing

I believe you need the new gear box to mount the new wing stay.

Yes, that’s a good point, as it replaces the top posts with the mounts. Not sure if the rest will bolt up

Great news! if you have an existing Optima, when you disassemble the entire car to remove the rear gearbox, it'll be like building a new Javelin!

And just to note, you can’t just swap in the new gearbox on the old cars- internals are different. Really retrofitting an old car will be more work than just buying a new roller.

Do the vintage Optima arms fit the rere Optima chassis? Just wondering because I have about 2 dozen spares that I got in a lot some time back...

That's alright, we all have opinions on the subject. I still don't think the re-releases will have too much of an affect on the originals.

Here's someone else that also agrees with my sentiment, and explains it better than I would: https://rctoymemories.com/2013/05/15/a-quick-guide-to-vintage-vs-remake-tamiya-rc-kits/ (The part about values starts about halfway down the page.) I also can't believe I've never seen that site before as it's very informative.

I agree that rere's won't have an affect on all models. This Javelin, now that I've seen it, has many obvious differences from the original and at over $300 it isn't just an inexpensive alternative to an original. I like how Kyosho has upgraded these classics. It's more of a "Javelin 2017 than a rereleased Javelin. A car that is probably more capable of handling modern motor options while being different enough from the original that the originals won't lose value. I'm with you 100% about the sentimental aspect of of the true vintage cars. That's why I joined this forum and have a decent collection of vintage cars. I was only stating the same thing that article said---that many people are happy with the rereleases and this brings down the dollar value of some of the vintage ones. I think we're on the same page for the most part---we love our vintage rc's! :D
