Anyone Know What This Is?

Post by Basher67 »

I got this little car in a box of parts for a truck I bought today and don't have a clue what it is. I looked all over the internet trying to describe it with no luck. It has a Kyosho battery and a little Le Mans motor so I'm thinking it's a Kyosho. The aluminum parts look like Kyosho pieces. (If I'm wrong I apologize for posting this in the wrong area) It looks like a Novak Rooster with wheels  . I'm guessing 1/24 scale. Wheelbase is 113 mm.

All I know is it's little and has Gold anodized aluminum wheels. Been looking all afternoon at google pics trying to find something similar. No luck yet.

Kyosho Baja bugs with optional aluminum wheels and the wrong radio gear. Would have come with an Ultima, Optima or Salute body (you can get them from team blue groove)

These are my kits, I have a runner Ultima as well

No body and different wheels, but I think this is the same chassis

What do you mean "Wrong radio gear"? Are you telling me the Rooster wasn't a factory option?   All B.S. aside, I think you guys got it. That's definitely what it is. I wonder if they are compatible with any of the mini z parts? I have one of those tamiya receiver/esc integrated units that might work good for this car along with a micro servo. TBG will save the day for a body as usual.

The green plugs are Race Prep connectors. If you don't want them, don't throw them away.

I looked over the manual, and it appears I'm missing a couple parts. The upper deck and the steering rods. I really want to run this thing so I think I'll probably make the upper deck out of lexan and fab up my own steering rods. Parts are not plentiful for these from what I'm seeing. Does anyone know if the wheels or tires from a mini z will fit this car?

I have a standard Kyosho ESC-Receiver-Servo setup for these somewhere... if you'd like to try it, let me know. Can't use it over here in Oz, wrong radio frequency...

Ha Ha ,Just looking at the box art I noticed the little picture on the lower right shows it next to an audio cassette , that dates it by itself ! Some of the kids won't even recognise one if those !

Love these little buggies as they are supercool. I have one set up as a runner. I used Tamtech radio gear and a custom battery pack. Even though their suspension works fairly well their small size precludes you from running them in too rough of terrain.

Over the years I’ve picked up a few of them along with a bunch of new parts so I may have the top plate you need.

That would be great. I mostly want to run it on the carpet in my house to chase my dogs around. Do you know if the wheels and/or tires from the mini z series are compatible? I've been meaning to research it but haven't got around to it. The foam tires on mine have seen better days and I want to get some rubber tires for it.
