It makes loud clicking noise when the gear hits the little rocks...
I think I might switch back to the traxxas clutch gear setup which worked fine before.
This video was shot after going around the track like 3 times. That much dirt and rocks got wedged up that quick.

I would assume you are running without a gear cover based upon the amount of trash in the gear. If you are running a gear cover, does it have holes in it?

I have never seen that much trash in a gear that had a gear cover.

Put the VXL cover on with masking tape covering the hole and got a really good seal.
Then I ran some good laps without any pesky rocks getting wedged.
I'm hoping the issue is resolved and so far it seems to be looking that way...

Everything I tried would not stop the dirt from getting into the AE gear so I built a secondary transmission (distinguishable by white) using a planetary diff, nylon idler, steel upper with a VXL slipper.

The open diff works awesome on the tight corners of the small dirt track.
The clutch functions excellent. Overall this setup seems ideal to me.

I noticed the VXL gear getting dirt into it also. There's a few things that I think caused me to notice the clogs in the first place:
First, the CVD's transfer more drivetrain noise than the stock slider, with the stiff AE gear, it makes a racket.
Compare to the flexible VXL gear.
Seems like the VXL gear flexes so if something does get wedged, it can accommodate it until its crushed.

Overall the car is running awesome! My brother and Wendy both were racing with Tekno SCT410 4x4 trucks and I was right with them racing the SRT.

I'm building a second track beside the first one which is going to be bigger and higher speed. I'm very excited about it and hope to be finished soon.

I guess I can put this here now that it's been run a few times. It's my Hawk 2.
It's got a Trinity Green Machine, a Solar d771, steel top drive and idler, and the rest is fairly obvious from the pictures.
I finally installed the aluminum shocks Harry697 sent me.
Since my Rc10 and Rustler both use my Flysky, I decided to switch this car over to my Airtronics SR-2p. I was sure to reverse the red and black wires on the ESC and servo for the Airtronics receiver.
If I can get my Airtronics Impulse working, I'll have all vintage electronics.
Unfortunately I haven't gotten to run it on my track yet, as it's all covered with snow.

Here's th e body, along with a somewhat less bad picture.
It's still the beat up old Proline Chevy C10.
Thanks again for the offer on the original body and stickers, I wish I could justify it.
I'm planning to take it to my LHS this weekend to do some clay oval racing. I'll probably be up against the regulars- a T4 and a few Rustlers, all with foam tires. The Hawk should get noticed.

So I finally got around to working on my TCP and my biggest thing was to get this new body cut and painted.
The body is going to get a simple black and silver 2-tone paint job with red TRX-3 stickers.

Wendy made fun of me because of haw many stickers I put on it. So I've toned it down a bit and also got the wing painted, still no mount though....
