Thanks guys, I originally had plans for an upper brace but I want to run the car without it first because there is going to have to be a couple modifications to the front bulkhead and shock tower. The CF I used has a good bit of flexibility and may work well for the car. No way to tell how the car will react without driving it.

I ordered the turnbuckles tonight which will give me time to finish up the front axles since they have to be machined from billet aluminum to meet my needs for this car. Basically I need to install the turnbuckles, machine the front axles, finish the steering, install the electronics and paint the body. More pics coming in a few days.

I hope the car drives good, if it doesn't it will go on the chopping block.

Well I just figured out I need to order some more parts. I am trying to adapt B4 wheels to this car but the wheel fitment is driving me nuts. The problem is Traxxas made this car with metric hardware and I am trying to put non-metric stuff on the car. I first thought I could turn the rear axles on the lathe to the 3/16 OD required for the AE wheels. I did that with success but the wheel fitment is a bit sloppy because the rear axles are just not long enough to get a solid fit.

The plans - I am going to take measurements to identify the length of the CVDs I need and order the 3/16 bearings. I am going to turn a spacer out of nylon to fit in the Traxxas hub so the 3/16 bearings fit snug. I have done this before to fit bearings and it worked perfect. I am going to turn new tranny outdrives to accept the CVDs. This way I don't have the problems with having the proper length axles and the rear should be set.

The front - I am going to turn new front axles that will fit the Traxxas steering arms but accept the 3/16 front bearings for the B4 front wheels. Yes I know that I could just buy 2.2 Traxxas wheels but I have several cars that run B4 wheels and I don't want to have to buy multiple sets of wheels and tires due to the expense. Regardless of the car I want to run, I grab all my wheels and tires and go. It is a pretty decent way to have multiple cars and keep the cost of wheels and tires down.

This by far has been the most annoying part of this build and I have not had this many problems from any of the other cars I have built. I am starting to lose interest on this one quick because it is starting to piss me off. I hate this cause I have been wanting to build one of these cars for a while now.

What will you be using for cvds? You need cup joints on the trans side or keep the sliders. If you get a set of the output yokes (plastic or steel) you can turn a set of axles that are 5mm at the bearings and 3/16 on the wheel as long as you want and use the output yokes on those axles.

I did turn the 5mm axles from the OEM sliders down the first time but the axle itself is not long enough to give the wheel proper support. After tightening everything up the wheel still has some play and slop.

I just measured the B4 CVDs and they are too long. I also happened to have a set of rear B44 and they are still a tad too long. After spacing the axle properly in the outer hub, the CVD is about 3/16 too long.

right, i got what you said up there with the stock axles, I was talking about making a new set of axle shafts to your liking, spacing, etc, then putting the drive yokes on them. so the rear axle stub would be a two piece assembly.

are you using the trx1 rear hub? If so, won't the B4 wheels end up narrowing the width? You could put B4 rear hubs on and that should give you 3/16" or so. Just have to watch the clearance on the arm, the B4 hub positions the axle closer to the hing pin, although with a CVD and bone you get a lot of clearance over the sliders.

SOB, you guys are right. I just happen to have a set of Losi axels here at the house. Let me get them mounted to the Traxxas sliders to see if it will work. Will post results.
