Tamiya 511 restoration
Hi Guys, had a few 511/501 over the years but saw this sorry looking car on eBay, tracked down the guy on oople and got it at a bargain price of £100 posted.
It's got gear and ball diffs and a few body's, the main issue is the home made Ali chassis.
It's all stripped down now and parts on order to rebuild her to her former glory, this will be raced once completed at my local club.

Re: Tamiya 511 restoration
Thanks for the info, didnt realise they did a few different versions of the 511
Iv seen the upgrade pack with lipo chassis and 39t pulleys and it centres the motor, may go for this but want to get the car back to std first.
Picked this up today for £60 of a local racer who built a special and had this left over, perfect for the build!

Re: Tamiya 511 restoration
Bit of progress, the doner chassis all cleaned and built up the diff housings/spur gear housing using the best alloy parts from both cars.
Just waiting for some parcels to turn up then the build will continue!

Re: Tamiya 511 restoration
Yet more progress!
Diffs re built with new bearings and ceramic balls. I wish I had taken pics of the diffs before the re build they were a right state!
That's about as far as I can get at the moment as waiting for a front shock tower and some parts for the shocks.

Re: Tamiya 511 restoration
Gear diffs built up, steel internals as the kit composite ones can't handle the power/high grip on the UK tracks
All cleaned up and installed with 3k front oil and 2k rear oil

Re: Tamiya 511 restoration
It's nearly ready for the track!
Shell polished up, some rims and tyres on (schumacher full spikes)
Savox 1251 servo installed with alloy servo horn, you guessed it in blue! Lol
Next up is the esc/motor/Rx install then it'll be raced in 2 weeks
