Hi there,

I really like how your project turned out.

I have a question about the bearings for the rc10 front wheels. What is the exact size so I can order some?

You said 8x5x?

And do they fit the rc10 wheels without any mods?

I've just started a project that will have an RCH srb 1/2 inch wider front end, custom chassis, A&L lethal weapon trans and MIP trailing arms.

I'm hoping to run rc 10 wheels on the front with widened axles.

Cheers
David

Hi, the original jelly bean front wheels are made for 5/16 bearings, it's 7.9mm so 8mm bearings fit without modification. Those Tamiya bearing are usually called "850", they are 8mm OD 5mm ID and 2.5mm W.

Thanks very much for the info.

Avid have bearings in that size so I think I'll do an order and get some new bearings for my other cars as well.

I'm going to do a build thread for my project once all the parts arrive.

Thanks again

David

I have some questions about the rear shock setup. How did you drill the holes exactly? Where did you get the tubes and other parts for the shock modification? I did something similar but just used a stock RC10 shock setup on the front and rear.

Can't wait to see a video of it running!

Tubes and fittings are Dubro exhaust pressure nipplets and classic silicone tubing for Nitro fuel.

For precision drilling by hand, I first drill a very small hole, check it perfectly centered and then enlarge it step by step. (1.5mm->2mm>2.5mm>3mm tap).

Here is a video made by my friend David at our last "club race" during the practice. The car is still very tricky with the terrible Hornet rear tires, but it's now very stable in the bumpy straight line of our track.

Incredibly, I wasn't the last with 11 laps (winner make 14 laps).

Why not sub in the sand scorcher paddles instead? Or could you use the Hot Shot rear tires?

Hornet tires are way better than the original sand padles, more agressive thread, softer...but still harder than any modern tires. I think it's harder than the Proline M2 compound. Btw there is not so many choices with the original 1.5 rims.

I'm working on a mod to fit 2.2 Holeshot M3.

Thanks.

Next, I instaled a second ball bearing (850) in the rear arms to reduce the slop of the rear wheels.

I want to see how "modern tires" can improve the handling.
Front: Wild One rerelease rims (2") and Duratrax Evader tires.
Rear: narowed RPM Revover truck wheels (2.2"), Proline front 4wd Holeshot M3.
