Hondaman's Blackfoot's?? Or should it be Blackfeet??
Hondaman's Blackfoot's?? Or should it be Blackfeet??
Well I was noticing that I haven't shown my Blackfoot I used to run all the way back in 87.. Well here it is:
This is where it started.. 20 years of dust and flat tires....... Poor guy:
At this point it was as I raced it... Here is the list of parts:
Kyosho Gold Shocks (front and rear)
JG Fiberglass shock towers and body mounts (front and rear)
JG HD Steering Kit with custom bump steer mounts
RaceMaster HD nylon Steering blocks
CRP rear suspension supports
CRP Front Bumper
Titan Electronics ESC
Twister Super Stock Motor
Thorp Diff kit
Full Tamiya bearings
Good old Futaba electronics (servo, receiver, Magnum Sport)
Lexan Ford shell
Now it looks like this after a teardown and rebuild:
Yes the shell is still dusty...
I made some changes though.. Here is what changed:
Shocks AE RC-10T fronts all around
Novak Rooster ESC
Adjustable motor mount
CRP body mounts
Tamiya Frog ReRe CVD axles
CRP nylon wheels
I'm going to get another shell and get this one painted up a little differently.. Going to get this one out to go play with my nephew and his hopper I built..

Re: Hondaman's Blackfoot's?? Or should it be Blackfeet??
The other Blackfoot is this one I picked up recently.. It was missing a couple parts like wheels and tires and a couple other things which I had.. I still had my stock shell for my Blackfoot but it didn't fit with the JG rear shock tower so now it found a home.. Here is it as it sits right now:
I put on my old wheels and some new tires along with a set of yellow CVA's that I once had on my Blackfoot before the change to the Kyosho golds.. It is missing the rear body mount support and electronics cover so I will source those.. I'm going to refinish the body.. Just waiting for some other things to finish.. I will take my time for this one though.. I haven't even torn it down to clean and re-grease.. One nice summer night..

IF you are referring to the pink and white body, it is a lexan body.. The red one is the Tamiya hard plastic body..

I regret giving my Blackfoot away to a friend. He was storing it in his basement, and I lost interest in RC the older I got as a teenager. I had a few mods but I always wanted the JG towers like you have there.
I need to build a classic Blackfoot!

Thanks Dan.. yea I used to race this one myself.. there was a few guys that had the blackfoot and monster beetles at the track I used to race at.. when all the other truggy's came out we were way out of our league.. lucky for us the track guy set up a class similar to the heavy metal class at the vonats so we could compete.. that was fun..
I agree about the rear shock tower.. the shock angle never worked all that well.. it looked cool but I couldn't get it to work perfectly.. I always had to rig it.. still I love the truck.. this was my second rc I ever bought and my first new Tamiya.. my others were all bought second hand.. probably why I have a soft spot for the ORV chassis..

I know what you mean.. the tracks became more hard packed and the jumps got crazy for the old cars.. I even remeber breaking stuff on my jrx2.. that's about the time I found 1:1 cars and girls and my rc's went into storage.. it wasn't until about 2000 that I bought another rc but a road car (tl01 skyline) to run around.. I put that away when I went back to school and came back a couple years ago.. I did sell that tl01 to get me a Yokomo so it wasn't all bad...
