Help with Mini Fox
Help with Mini Fox
Hey guys,
I have a nice TamTech Fox, and now my son is getting a little better at driving, I'd like to speed it up a little.
So, we were thinking about motors and/or speedos.
is it possible to change to brushless? what would we need?
or is there a decent drop in brushed motor alternative?
and shocks? anyone know what might fit?
I grabbed some 1700 Lipo packs already, so it's runs forever right now, but oh so slow and bouncy
thanks
Stu

Re: Help with Mini Fox
HI!... I have one, plus a Hornet and a HotShot Tamtech. The shocks are the worst thing about the car. Get some aluminum oil filled shocks. It's like night and day difference. Also you can go BL. I have in all 3 of mine. So much better. My Hotshot goes 65KPH. LOL. Just make sure you tighten up the rear diff as much as you can. You practically have to make it a spool. That's the weak link in these cars once you go BL.

Re: Help with Mini Fox
How close is the chassis on the Tamtech hotshot to the Fox? The fox chassis and GT-01 on roads are real similar. Could a 4WD on road chassis be made from the hotshot?

Re: Help with Mini Fox
HI!... The Tamtech HotShot and Fox have totally different chassis. If you would like to road race the HotShot just install rubber road tires or foams, and go. I only run mine on the street, asphalt/concrete.

Re: Help with Mini Fox
I tried to get a mini Hotshot a couple years ago but they were NLA, I don't think they were on the market for very long, bit disappointing really. I have the Tamtech Fox and Frog though.

Re: Help with Mini Fox
I ahve a frog and fox. The frog is stock, except I run a lipo.
The fox, I installed a HobbyKing 6000kv 1/18 scale turnigy trackstar brushless combo. Very very fast. However, I constantly melt the sad little plastic slipper clutch. These cars have no friction pads, the slipper is just plastic on plastic and even fully tightened, it slips, then melts and fuses together. I have yet to engineer a solution.
Other than that it's great
For shocks, I am running some unknown 1/10 scale oil filled touring car shocks I had laying around. Work well.
