Tamiya F104W Lotus 79 Ronnie Peterson
Woah! First Tamiya RC purchse/build in my lifetime. Not the last though
The reason for this is the Lotus Type 79 and Ronnie Peterson.
This will be a homage to Ronnie also known as the Super Swede. The greatest Swedish F1 driver of all time.
He tragically passed away after a horrific crash at Monza Sept. 11 1978.

Working with Alclad 2 Chrome.
Now that was a lot of fun.
Picture does not make it justice, but happy with the end result.
Need to paint spokes gold to get it more like the original.

Wheels done!
Painted lettering on the rear tires and water transfer decals on the fronts.
Damn it's hard to get a decent pic in this November darkness

Thanks guys!
If you're to use Alclad paint buy the clear coat as well. The paint rubs of if you just look at it
Now starts the the tough job of painting the body black....
Nah The big job with the body is trimming clean lines and getting "body parts" to look and fit right.

Nice project. Any hopups planned? Always wondered why Tamiya removed the Goodyear on the front tires but kept it on the rear. Silly trademarks...
I've got Ronnie Peterson driving my Tyrrell P34 six wheeler.

Re: Tamiya F104W Lotus 79 Ronnie Peterson
Thanks Smoke-dog! I really like your Tyyrell (Y)
No hopups at this moment... maybe rear shock..Going all in on apperance at the moment.
I have to cut into the horrible front bumper that more or less looks like a shovel. We'll see how much is left of it once I'm done.
Allso I cut of the rear diffusor as the real thing did not have one (I have removed a little more material at the rear than what shows in the picture)
Might have to fabricate a dummy gearbox at the rear end to fill up the void.

The last few seasons have been a drag, just roll with it.
I watch and love it regardless. If it was not for F1, the trickle down tech would not be there....
