What is this?

Post by SiRacer420 »

I was told this is a Tamiya F1 car. I don't know squat about Tamiya so I don;t even know if that's correct. Anyone know what it is?

I just pulled this exact car out of an old box. I had forgotten all about it! I'm looking for parts. Mainly the front of the motor pod (where the shock mounts) and the top deck. If you find where to buy parts could you please pass it on? Send me a message. Thanks!
They asked me what I was thinking!? I simply told them... I wasn't.

Here's an article with Tamiya's f1 rc timeline http://www.vrcmag.com/VRC_Online/VRC_003_guppy/pubData/mobile/index.htm#/76/
Page 78 is The Wiliams Fw14 Renalt model 58105 which looks to be your car. An F102 kit.
I have just picked up a Tamiya F1 car of a similar era. But it's not listed in this article :(
I think it's an F102 chassis as well but with none of the alloy upgrades pictured in the article.
I look forward to seeing your restoration and if you have any luck finding spares like tyres which mine desperately needs.

F103 bits won't fit the rear pod of the F101 and F102, the offet is wrong. Actually, most F103 parts won't fit the older chassis, except for the oil shock, front uprights, rear axle, wheels, wings, bodies, and some of the hardware.

Although the F101 and F102 chassis are out of production, they share their front and rear suspension with the Tamiya Group C cars, which were repeatedly reissued.
