Fast Attack / Wild One

Post by losiXXXman »

I've been piecing this together the last couple of months. Just picking up parts from the splitters on eBay. Didn't want to drop all the cash in one fell swoop.... Anyway, I always wanted one of these once I became aware of them because they predate my involvement with RC. But... as I was assembling I feel like something is wrong. The rear suspension will not even fall under its own weight. I have tried loosening screws, making sure that the metal bits for the suspension arm mounts are not tweaked... but nothing I do seems to free up the suspension... is running it going o break it in? As it stands, I'm not sure whether to pass it on, start hacking on it, or look into some redesign with some 3d printed pieces... Were these always tight?

Thanks!

I had one back in the day and the rear suspension was free , could you have a mix of ReRe bits and original ? That could be a problem .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
A problem shared is a problem halved but an advantage shared is no advantage at all.

Nice project. I've considered one myself, but sofar resisted the temptation remebering how not-so-fantastic the plastic was on my first RC car: Tamiya Boomerang.
Have you tried greasing it up a bit?

Well I heard that there were some issues between were parts on vintage cars. I wasn't aware they were occurring on these. I do have old stock arms and suspension mounts, gearbox and such... E-parts basically. So maybe I'll order up the rere version and see if that helps out.

I bought a Fast Attack Vehicle reissue a few years ago and I can confirm that yes, the rear end is a bit tight. I haven't looked at it since I built it, though.

It's a cool scale-ish design but it certainly is no performer.

I'm fairly new to this forum and I have two original FAVs (one for myself) and two 2011 RTR kits for my kids. I did aluminum upgrades on every part I could and installed Tamiya's oil damper kit. I replaced the motor and ESC with a Tamiya brushless combo. The last additions were pine car weights in front of the steering servo to eliminate wheelies, a problem that arose after the motor upgrade. Handling was so much better both on and off road afterwards. If I can find my small scale I'll weigh the RTRs and mine to show the weight differences. I'm not a fan of jumping plastic bodies like that on the Fast Attack Vehicle. I broke it a few times so I'd know where to add aluminum and it turned out well in the end. I was going to include a few pictures but I can't get them attached.
