You have a point.....

Personally, I'd love the smug satisfaction of crawling over that little crappy Tamiya...The "Deutz green" paint job makes it look even worse.

Well, since the local dirt oval closed down, I've turned my attention back to building. After looking at my tractor sitting in the corner for the last several months, I decided something wasn't right about it. After disassembly, I cut 2" from the length, and added 1" to the height. The scale is much more in proportion, but it made a challenge trying to get the radio gear and battery to fit. I ended up making a removable tray, and mounting the battery over the top of everything else.... Of course I had to add a few more details...like clutch/brake pedals, access covers, and better gauges.

Enjoy.

After a lot of personal debate, I've decided to do something with my tractor. It was a tough choice, considering we had a real one like it on our farm when I was a kid. But since I left MF to work for a John Deere dealer, I have officially decided to "go green". I don't think I have the talent of PlastizapCA when it comes to fabrication, but I'll give it a shot.

Here's the intended goal:

Here's the pile of junk I'm starting with, using a dremel, drill, calipers and my imagination. Most of the parts can be recycled, so hopefully it'll be a bit easier than the first time around:

I agree with build a second one... There are never enough Tractors on a farm... And you could pit them against each other and reenact red vs green competitions whenever you wanted ;)

I really liked the old one as well. By just changing up the old one though it will save you time. I'll be following this one! Oh and I'm not talented, you should see all the mistakes I make.

I think a good wheel tire combo would be grasshopper front tires on the 'jay halsey' style front wheels painted yellow, and some narrow crawler tires in the rear, not sure about the wheels on that one.

Thanks for the comments. I did consider building a second tractor, but I rarely run this one, and I still need to improve on some of the fabrication. I had a nostalgic attachment to the Massey, but times change...besides, I haven't driven the real one in over 30 years.

Build a new tractor. Do not destroy (i.e. paint green) the original tractor.

She thinks my tractor's sexy
It really turns her on
