Mr. ed's little big bastard truck
After upgrading my sawback with R1 portal axles I had the original axles to play with.
All I needed now was... Basically the rest of a 4 link truck. So I dove into the stash of runner parts and spares and scrap. Even cut up some virgin black g10 I'd been saving. After seeing sfc k's shaft drive clod http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=41121&p=463549 , I was won over for some monster truck influence. Bigger wheels and tires, chassis raised a little higher and an even more drastic cut of the hirobo 44-b hilux body.
Here's the bastard child of gmade kyosho traxxas hobao and scrap:

Action!
Roughly 3hours on the trail. 3.2amps consumed. Ok, it's slow but it did handle the hard condions quite on par with my buddies axial. Not bad at all for a home made car with a 25(?) year old ultima gearbox.

Re: Mr. ed's little big bastard truck
Thank you. It was a rather strange body originally, about as wide as long.
With its odd short wheelbase and wide flares it just didn't fit any car I had. Till I cut a good bit of the wheel wells to run on an optima mid based monster truck with clodbuster wheels and tires. Since then I've probably cut away close to 70%
The more I cut away, the more it started to grow on me over the years. It's badly cracked and has multiple spare holes for bodymounts, but I just can't part from it
