Battery help needed desperately!

Post by kiohio » Tue Jan 31, 2017 1:38 pm

I'm sorry if this doesnt belong here, but I'm not sure where to go with it.
My fiance's mother bought her special needs son a 1:8 scale New Bright Grave Digger (UGH)
The batteries are absolute TRASH and not even available new, they are all listed as "used".
He gets very attached to things he likes and doesn't really understand how something that looks fine doesn't work, that and he just got it at Christmas.
The pure simplicity of the unit makes it a good fit for him.
I would make up some battery packs for it, but I'm not sure what all is available and thought you all might know of something.
It is a 12.8v Lithium Ion pack that is small, approx 3"x3", but there is room we could make a holder underneath of the unit, it has alot of ground clearance, and he rarely goes outside.
It would be nice if I could find something he can unplug, charge and install himself but it's not really a necessity.
His brother or I can help him, his older brother has 2 cars and uses NiMH and LiPo batteries so he always has help available.
Thank you in advance for any help or ideas you may have.

Without me knowing some of the family bought another "new" battery online.
This one lasted for approx 2 weeks.
The solution? Buy a RedCat Everest 10 and put an eBay Grave Digger body on it.
Hobby grade, NiMH batteries and replaceable parts!!
