PB MUSTANG center axis, high speed gear break down

Post by microwaveguitar »

Hi, dear all PB MUSTANG owners.

I'm Arthur from Taiwan.
I also have a PB MUSTANG in good condition (two speed gear version).
But recently I want to break down the center axis but unfortunately high speed gear cannot be removed, it is stocked.
Even I want to remove the high speed gear with center axis, also didn't work.
(I've removed Headless hex screw which located in body <beside the track>)
Is there any trick to remove these parts?
Very appreciate your help!

Thank you.

Arthur,

Looks like you need to remove the second gear clutch cam (the green - grey round part that is 11mm outside diameter, 4mm inside diameter, and 7mm wide. It should have a 6BA grub screw (the headless hex screw you mention) in it, which you can remove with an allen key through the hole in the metal gear hub (second gear clutch bell). Be careful with the 6BA grub screw, as the instructions called for it to be threadlocked in, so it may be difficult to get out.

Alternatively, you can remove the collar on the other side of the layshaft, and you should be able to slide or tap the entire layshaft out.

If you need a copy of the 2-speed instructions, just let me know, as I have them in .PDF format.

Good luck mate!

Hi, thanks for your help, I think the best way is to remove hole axis with gear.
But it also stocked....
I will PM you my facebook account and email, through this way, we may discuss for more detail.
Thank you.

By the way, yesterday I've successfully tune out two speed gear transmit.

I'm clueless about your technical issue, but I applaud you for keeping the old Mini 'Stang alive

Sure, it is cool of automatic two speed gear transmit.
So happy when I make the two speed gear function work. :D
