rc10 team car (update)

Post by scr8p »

i've been contemplating exactly what i wanted to do with this car. i had plans on converting it back to a buggy, but i believe i've changed my my mind. this is my first rc10, bought in 92. since the day it built, it has seen nothing but oval racing. so, i think i'll keep it looking that way. a couple things my be different, but the majority of the parts that are on the car are the same ones that were on it the last time i raced it in 95. that's when i built up my raborn, and this one just stayed home. so, i'm just gonna tear it down, maybe re-dye the parts, and put it back together. the last time i raced it, it was setup as a late model, with a custom works camaro body, and narrow 2.2 shumacher cat spikes on all for corners. back then, in my area, racing indoors on hardwood floors in the winter was a big thing, and those tires where the ticket.

i think my biggest obstacle will be trying to remember how the body was painted. i know the colors, i just forget how it was laid out. i never had a pic of the car with that body on it.

Hey scr8p, with those skinny rears, I bet it would slide really good in the turns?

not on hardwood floors.

with the standard width rears, the cars would push too much. they just had too much bite. the skinny tires helped to balance it out, plus they're lighter. :)

i was up at my parents house today for easter, and i found the original edm body for the car. i forgot it was even up there yet. i thought i had thrown it out. so, i brought it home, and put it on the car.

the way the car is in the first pic is exactly the way it looked at my very first race in the stock edm class. the winter of '92, indoor season, running on hardwood. the second pic is how the car looked for the outdoor dirt oval season of '93.

i think i'm gonna figure this car as done now. worn out parts and all. :D

Keep it "off-road" free man!!! RC10 oval cars are the shizzz!!! I remeber racing in North jersey on at a roller rink, and those Schumacher tires, with Yokomo wheels were the only way to get around!!

i remember tri-oval speedway. that was on main st. in phillipsburg, right? by joe's steak shop. i raced there quite a few times. i only ran in hackettstown twice. it was kind of a haul for me back then. but, i won the a-main both times. :D

Ahhhhh....joe's cheese steaks, they were awesome!!! I use to race at tri-oval with my father every weekend! That was alot of fun. Kind of the reason I built that Raborn car...nostalgia! I only ran the roller rink once, and didn't have a very good showing. Didn't know about the Yokomo wheels and Schumacher tires?

:?

Bumping a super old thread.

My sister was digging through pictures at my parent's house today and dug up a pic of this car. This was sometime at the beginning of the 93 outdoor dirt season..... before I had my white/orange/purple edm body ready. Foams and hot pink wheel dots. Can't forget the wheel dots.
