RC10 turnbuckle/tie rods.

Post by FordPSD »

Hi. Im new to the site. I'm returning my goldtub back to a buggie and am going to restore it to somewhat stock. I don't wanna use the original turnbuckles and no one lists a set for these old RC10s. Does anyone have old part numbers from companies that made them so I could find them on Ebay or does anyone know what ones available today will work? Thanks.

just to add, if your rc10 has the short front arms, those tierods will be too long. they're for use with the widetrack front arms.

He could just cut down the front two if needed though.

if they were threaded all the way to the hex..... ya. but they're not. and it's not just the camber rods, the steering rods will be too long, as well.

maybe i'm wrong, and they would work. but i don't see how.

well, your not stuck using threaded rod. you could measure for the length you need and get some lunsford tierods. or, you could get the dubro 4-40 turnbuckles and cut them to the desired length. the dubros are threaded close to the hex.

I have both narrow and wide front arms. Based on the looks I would say the narrow were the factory ones. The wide ones dont have the style of the narrow ones and I don't think they are RPM. I have wide and Narrow RPM rears and they don't resemble the fronts. Lunsford measured the turnbuckles on their original RC10 and gave me the lengths. What worries me are the ends. There are many different ends available and it looks like that would affect the length which doesn't leave much room. I like the Integy turnbuckles I've seen because they have metal ends. I'm pretty bad at buying something expensive online ONLY to find out it doesn't fit or work! I appreciate he help! I'm glad I found this site and decided to turn it back to a buggie.

AE #6260 turnbuckles are 1.00" and the #6261 turnbuckles are 1.25".

You could also try the #2283 turnbuckles for the NTC3 that are .825".

I had bought Dubros turnbuckles and their ends years ago back when I was converting it to a truck so they were longer since I installed wider ams. They were rather skimpy ones but at the time that was all they had or all I could afford. The ones at Tower Hobbies look a little beefier than the ones I bought back then. I'm gonna get the ones from Tower but may still buy some from Lunsford once I know the sizes are correct.

I just ordered the Lunsford tie rods. They seem cheaper now than they were 10 years ago.
