Re: Ruffy's '93 Worlds car and other vintage items
Easier to see in this image I posted in another thread.
We made Houge's stuff (front, rear arms, chassis, bellcranks, and more...), and shipped it off to him for packaging with their header card. Same mold, different material color, that's all.
I even used the white Houge Steering before , during and after the '93 Worlds. So it made it to England and back, LOL!
Enjoy:

Really cool stuff mate, keep the pics coming! I wondered what was the story behind that CC buggy chassis with 10T arms on it. Was it simply a truck with a short wheel base or some kind of buggy or maybe something in between?

Re: Ruffy's '93 Worlds car and other vintage items
some explanation:
The blue ones are the standard original Houge, along with some black ones, Then take a close look at the green ones, they have been machined down as development progressed to "revamping" them, and the end result are the white ones, which were cut back even further. All of these are from the same mold, but the mold was altered during the development. This lettering is gone on the white ones due to no room based upon how far the ramp down was cut for clearance.
In the top picture, you can just read on the top of it,"Houge Ent."
Thanks M_Vice!
Asso_Man: that was the during the development of a Stealth Truck Chassis. I don't remember if we ever released it, this was my test vehicle that I took some parts off of while we developed other things.

Re: Ruffy's '93 Worlds car and other vintage items
hey, check it out he has the perfect worlds front shock tower. didn't some of you guys that ran worlds front ends at the vintage nats say you wish you could stand up the front shocks a little more, well there you go. i believe scr8p used an andys pro race front tower and he thought that was a little too upright. looks like ruffy may have to make a few scans for repro's. very nice custom prototype parts there.

Just found this blast from the past in a box, my old Lavco Charge Mate and Cell Mate, charging and discharging system for individual cell matching.
I just ran a few SCE 1700mAH cells through a few cycles.

Re: Ruffy's '93 Worlds car and other vintage items
Here is a small glance at the "Masters of RC" card collection that Gene and Midge sent me as a Christmas present a loooong time ago. Still looks brand new. They shipped it out to me with the box inverted, and a "Season's Greetings!" stamp on the outside, but for these pictures I have also inverted the box right side out for you all.
Inverted box, "Season's Greetings!" from Gene and Midge box:
Some of the 155 cards within the box out for you to see:

Along the way my wife also just found my 1992 ROAR Nationals Drivers ID Badge (in a clear shell with a clip on the back) to get into the non-spectator areas.

Re: Ruffy's '93 Worlds car and other vintage items
Picture of my current runner. My original '93 IFMAR Worlds car that I ran. I had two cars prepped for that race, the other I am not touching, but this one I ran a few weeks ago with JHarris at an indoor track with my trusty CS2P Airtronics radio. Everything worked perfect and it felt so good, I have decided to keep running it. I ran it with my old Reedy NiCads too.
Only changes that are current now is a deans plug to run a Lipo pack now and the bleeder shock caps (I just had to try them).

Great stuff, Ruffy. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. I just noticed the shocks on this car. I assume the milling of the shock hexes was just part of the overall weight trimming?

Re: Ruffy's '93 Worlds car and other vintage items
Yeah, getting the car down to the minimum weight for the World's was essential. Where ever I can, I have either aluminum screws or titanium screws. Both cars even had titanium ball ends, along with the titanium adjustable rods and hinge pins. The upper gear in my tranny's are even machined down to reduce the rotating mass of the transmission. The long tranny screws holding it to the motorplate are aluminum, along with the 4 screws underneath holding the tranny (flat heads) were titanium as well.
Even the 4 screws holding the nose brace tubes are aluminum flat head screws in front, titanium on the sides.

I really like those CF pieces, too. That rear shock tower is pretty trick.
BTW - what was the minimum weight when you raced this buggy? I’m curious if it was different from the current IFMAR rules at 52oz/1474gr.
