Ruffy. trying to do a box art body. What paint are you using ? . I tried some faskolor orange backed up with black on a piece of lexan . looks close to the box art color.

I used faskolor paints from Parma as well. They worked well with my aging testors airbrush kit and cleaned up easily with tap water.
I used a blend of orange, yellow and white mixed together using eyedroppers to get a little lighter tone than the boxart, then when it dries it gets just a little bit darker which gave me the right tone for the box-art color somewhat.

Good luck and hope to see your box-art body soon.

Bad news on this WD external USB drive where I had the photos stored, it is dead and the files were unrecoverable.

Looking through some more old boxes this evening, I found this old Airtronics receiver I had that I must have used way back in the day.
Looks kind-of like the one shown in the box-art image, but this one is 75 Band, with the Part No. 92223.
While doing a search on the net, I could not even find this receiver part no. anywhere out there... so my hopes on finding out the one in the box-art photo is going to be tough.

I put this one into my Box-Art car chassis now, replacing the vintage but slightly newer Airtronics receiver I had in there originally.

I had some time today after we spent the morning flying my T-Rex 700LE Nitro Helicopter today, Memorial Day, so I took some time to do the wiring to fasten the window net to the body like the box art car had and to change the window net to the actual type used on the original Box-Art car, the way Chris Chan did it. Here are some images of the first side (right side) completed and then painted slightly as Chris did to conceal the wire fastening the window net to the body.
I have attached an image of the actual Box-Art cars' right window for comparison. Now on to the left side and more pictures later as I continue to fine-tune this build.

Picture of the actual car:

Hard to see the wiring and net details in this picture, due to my lighting for the camera shot.

Just finished the left side, and with a little rubbing using scotch-brite to the wires to make them slightly visible, like the box-art, the car looks pretty cool now!

I have told a few members already, but an FYI for anyone wondering to ask me.
We recently had our ace welder, the guy that did my noseplate and motorplate work, leave our company for a better paying job that we were unable to match the pay to keep him. Now we have but a single welder, but this is a younger buck that is still not a very accomplished welder. Let's just say I wouldn't trust him with my stuff, let alone yours.
So for now I no longer have anyone that can do proper welds on aluminum using the correct filler rod or material plug, for jobs that then have to be subsequently anodized and for the materials to match. At least nobody I can trust to give me great results.

Follow-up report on last email transaction with Chris Chan:

I sent Chris Chan an email that included the last images of the wing after our discussion on it, and the end conclusion to what we derived right here in this forum thread. I also asked if he had any photos from the shoot that he could share with us. I wasn't going to post this due to being rather shy of a lot of information, but felt it might be good for the forum history here regarding this topic on the wing.
Here is his reply

Ruffy-
No photos of the top of the wing. It appears to be in the same
orange as the car. Endplates have the same magenta, dark blue,
light blue as the car, with the bottom half white and Team
Associated in black.

(regarding my wing sticker layout)

Looks about right to me from what I can remember from a car I built
over a quarter century ago.
-Chris Chan

Big thanks to Chris Chan for answering these questions for me/us all.

Asso_Man, here is a blow-up of the box image that shows the receiver. It is a 53 Band (72 MHz I believe?!) Airtronics Receiver. The part no. appears to be 92230 but searches under that number have not produced anything. Both yours and mine are close, but not like the actual one they had in the car for the photoshoot.

Ruffy, I wanted to ask.

1) How did you mount the driver in the body?

2) Are you sending Curtis a wing?

slotcarrod,
1) I used a square piece of clear lexan, bent so that it can mount to the body insides using velcro. This way the driver can be removed easily, exchanged or moved to another car.

2) I would like to send him one, but I need to find one on ebay to buy first. I haven't seen another one of the small 4" ones yet.

Please post a pic of your beautiful replica here!

Just a bit too pricey for me, for such a small wing.
I have been buying them for around $4.00 to $7.00 with wing wire and wing buttons from people from time to time when I find them.
There's one on ebay right now mesgd to me by another member for 18.00 but with wing wire and buttons. But that's still a bit too much for that wing in my opinion.
If I find another one at this price range, or if someone wants to donate one, I'll be more than happy to paint it up, sticker it up, mount it to the wire and buttons and then send it to Curtis for their car. Full credit will go along with it and maybe Curtis will send us another great picture of himself with the car and wing mounted.
:D

We went down to IKEA and purchased this unit to house and show-off my replicas. Based upon the dimensions, I can also add a shelf between each to house more cars per cabinet.

We bought the Black/Brown option

Your right Miguel, I will have to build more.
next up will be an "Original RC10" build based upon the car that Gene showcases in a video and there is a pdf file of it posted by his son Steve too. I now have the two Novak Servos and receiver, one of the servos and receiver graciously donated by murphy3428; for this build.
This is going to be a big and long one but the ball has just started to roll on it.
