Thanks. Yeah this one turned out alright. Now it's time to beat it up a little bit.

I'm not much of an off-road suspension specialist. Just kind of looked at how this one differs geometry wise from a stock rc10 and adjusted from there.

So on the car I ran at the vonats, I had 35 f/30 r oil, #1 pistons and silver springs. On this one, I kept 35 up front with silver springs, but went with #2 pistons. On the back I went with 32.5 oil with #1 pistons and silver springs. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks. I went for #2's+40 everywhere on mine but it's probably not final. Let me start a thread on this car :)

I remember reading about this car a long while back. looks awesome, scr8p. I like the added detail on the wheels (sorta reminds me of a vintage Bugatti).

Thanks.

Yeah.... I had to add a little bling to the wheels. Kinda plays off the paint job a bit.

You got it wrong - it´s bumper cars that are supposed to have contact with the metal netting in the ceiling, not RC cars
Great build with a nice paint job.

Alright, I guess I will chronicle the first time out with the car with Joe and Ed the past Sunday.

I didn't really change anything because as I found out at the Vonats, these tires take a few runs to start working well. First run was kind of a throw away. It was skating around a bit, and I was just getting used to the track...... and a new car. The second pack was better. I was getting more comfortable and wasn't driving too bad. So on to the setup:

Front: 35w / #2's / silvers. .89 shocks, middle hole tower, middle hole on arm (dynotech), 30* castor blocks, wide GT front axles, lower camber hole in tower. JConcepts Octagons (green compound) on B4 wheels. SXT tire sauce.

Rear : 40w / '#2 / blues. 1.32 rear shocks, inner tower hole, middle hole on arm (dynotech), 1.5 arm mounts, 0* Losi 2038 hubs. Middle camber hole on bulkhead (worlds), lower middle camber hole on hub, hinge pin in lower hole. JConcepts Octagons (green compound) on B4 wheels. SXT tire sauce.

Battery : Shorty lipo in forward position

ESC/Motor : LRP Works Flow Team (blinky), 17.5 LRP Spec motor

Gearing : 78/28 (I think)

One thing I know I will change are the arm mounts. For one, the kept loosening up. I'm actually surprised they didn't break with how old and yellowed they are. But they held together. I'll put a set of 3* mounts on it. That should help the straight line stability. And I may try to drop a step down in oil all around, so 32.5 front/37.5 rear and see what happens. But like I said earlier, the car really wasn't too bad, and it should continue to get better as the tires break in.

So, I made it out to the dirt track again on Sunday. They have a new layout that I like more than the previous one. They took out the large crossover jump.

I didn't make any changes to the car, other than swapping out the 1.5 arm mounts for 3*. It definitely had a little better forward bite, but the car just seems to be on top of the track. But the only way I can get the suspension to feel good (especially in the rear) is with a stiffer combo. And, with the stiffer combo, it tends to pop the rear up at the top of the jumps nosing the car more than I would like.

So when I got home, I asked Brad if he had any thoughts on what I could do to get that pack feeling in the rear that the car is missing so i can try a softer shock combo. He suggested using the upper hinge pin hole in the hub carriers, thinking that would help add a little resistance. Other than having to notch the arms for bone clearance and move the ball stud on the hubs, it was a quick adjustment. It does feel a little bit better now, so I'll try softening the car up on all for corners and see how it works next time i get to the track. :)

Yeah, we'll see what happens with it. Hoping to get back there in a couple weeks.

Here I am, waiting for the short course rental wreck fest to end before going out. The kid there in the opening of the wall on the left........ WOW! It was like watching a monster truck freestyle competition.
