Jay Halsey RC10 Replica / '85 Worlds

Post by scr8p »

well, i finally got an all original gold tub ( 6016 ). it's all there, too. i traded a guy i used to race with this and a T3 roller for my reflex-10 roller. he got it from a guy he works with, who's kid bought it new in nov. of 88. the original receipt is even in the box. he bought the car, a challenger 250 stick radio, and 3 parma matched panisonic battery packs which are in the box, also. the only bad thing on the car is it looks like the one pack blew up in the car, and leaked acid on the chassis underneath the battery cups, then ran through two of the holes in the pan, and ran across the bottom of the chassis. everything else should clean up good though.

well, i guess i'm going towards a jay halsey replica with this one now. got a set of 1.5 proline knobbies off apexspeed, and picked up all of the vintage electronics off of ebay. i got to find an old reedy motor yet. it's still a work in progress.

Your car has cleaned up beautifully. How do you get the plastic parts so clean and white? Thanks for any help. Ed

Guy's, don't you get it? Why is it so clean? Here's a clue. The car is on top of the dryer, tires off.
I guess you know what he did and what he used. The question now is did he use powder or liquid . :D  :D

well, it helps if the parts your starting with are pretty white to begin with. i have another rc10 that the arms are very yellow from the shocks leaking, and the oil allowed to sit on them for years. this car did not see much use at all.

as for cleaning the white parts, i like spray nine, or greased lightning, simple green. pretty much anything will work. before you use it on the anodizing, read the label first. i found out the hard way on that. but i got a cool lookin set of shocks out of it. :D

got the body trimmed and mounted today. this was the first buggy body that i've mounted in almost 12 years. i can honestly say, i haven't been missing a thing. didn't like doing it then, and don't like doing it now. hopefully i'll get it painted by the end of the week.
