Advanced Racing Products RC10 Mid

Post by railey72 »

This is a mid motor conversion from Advanced Racing. Haven't seen another one of these on the board so I thought I would post the build. Need to verify the date of this conversion in the old rcca ads but I am thinking late eighties. Maybe someone can chime in with some additional info.

I have seen those way BITD for Oval racing- the rear tower and bulkhead also look to be more suited to Dirt Oval duty then off road-

Looks classic as hell! :D Obviously no holes for the Stealth so clearly ahead of it's time. Anyone know what all the countersunk holes down the side were for?? First time I've ever seen one of these. Great condition too!

the tower is short because it's mounted up so high on the trans brace

Thank you for posting that. I have seen that ad in RCCA, just need to dig through and find what issue it was in. Thinking around late 88. The quality of this kit is really good. The rear bulkhead is a neat piece and kind of integrates everything together. The whole concept looks to be pretty well thought out. Even allows you to run "lower oval towers" :P

Here is the start of the build. The MIP trans and Litesink motor plate came in really handy for turning the trans around while still allowing standard motor rotation. For those who haven't seen one, the Mip top shaft can simply be turned around and shot out the other side of the trans case.

I remember that ad. I always wanted it but $90 was a lot of money when all of my income came from mowing the lawn once a week! I could barely afford the spare parts just to keep my cars running.

Wow! I live here in the bay area, and knew the guy who made these kits. I just happen to have one of the motorplates for that car -blue. LMK if you are interested. I don't think it is actually used, just been banging around in the boxes for 20 years. -Jeff

Hi Jeff, that's cool you knew the guy that produced these. I would love to see that motor plate. Wasn't aware that the original conversion came with one but it makes sense that it would.
