Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and parts
Ok, wanted to stop posting up in PBR Allstar's thread. http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21205
So there's interest in the 2.25 stealth and 6 gear. I've heard that a rear bulkhead and front mount might be of interest. Again, my friend Walt is more than capable than making these. It's just a matter at what cost is it going to afford the customer and will man hours be worth making them. I'm trying to get Walt back on this site, he tried to register but has had some issues. So let's post up here.

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
A rear bulkhead would be freakin' sweet, and I had never considered a 6-gear metal case but I'd be interested in one of them as well (or two).

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
I would definitely be interested in a couple of stealth cases and very possibly a 6 gear.

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
Ok, just so I'm tracking....is the rear bulkhead something not currently being made in aluminum? The only reason I ask is there are plenty of manufacturers out there that can probably push out tons of stuff to get you a lower price. I'd hate to have Walt build something that you can get $10 cheaper elsewhere. Again, I'm gonna work on getting Walt on this site.

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
I've searched for years now and have yet to find a single alloy rear RC10 bulkhead. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't think they're out there. I need some front mounts as well. I know member Atlas makes some nice ones in gold, but I'm looking for raw aluminum.
Hope you're doing well johnboy. Send me a PM about that other thing we talked about when you get a chance.

Yeah, I'd want the fronts in raw alu too. Am really hoping that these parts become a reality as they would look perfect for the build I'm about to start!

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
Oh, the ends...yeah, PM me your address, how many you need and we'll go from there. One of my soldiers says he can braze so we are going to attempt to build up more cars until I run out of parts. Then I told him I'd split any profits down the middle since he could use the cash.
Ok, back on topic. Ok, so here's what I have that I'm going to drop off with Walt if he's interested. I know he's somewhat busy with school, the truck and stuff but he's a good guy.
The plan is to drop off my Cadillac RC10. I'll give him full authority to tear it down for anything he might want to recreate. But I'll tell him the rear bulkhead, 6 gear trans, and front mounts would be first things to look at.
I just finished counting gears and I have a 2.25 and 2.6 Stealth transmissions. I don't have a 2.4 Stealth. I'd like to see about him building some 2.6 cases as well that would be a direct bolt in for the RC10 and other flat mounting surfaces without the need for spacers...but I'll look into that too.
Question, are all the bulkheads the same thru out the RC10 years up to the more modern B2/B3? If so, then that would help if he just measures off my Cadillac.

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
if he ends up doing a run of any of these parts do you think doing some in delrin would be a possibility? I really don't want either in aluminum, but would jump all over some delrin parts, and I'm sure a few others on the borard that are more in the racing spectrum would be into them as well.

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
I don't know...I know he's got all the crazy equipment to do the aluminum stuff. I can ask him, he might know what I'm talking about.
Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
If he can do them in alu he should have no problem doing them in delrin.
